Every student has considered, at some time, what qualities the ideal teacher might posses. What is i that sets him
apart L rom o+he rs? He is not someone just hired to teach, but is someone gifted with ability to teach. Because of hi s firm belief in the
importance of his job, he is willing to use his gift to the fullest. He tries to teach even those who would raThe r not be taught and to teach the poor students without boring the bright, the bright without losing the poor. H s w' ingness to help makes one tee I free to approach him, even beyond the confines of the classroom. His genuine e n husiasm
sparks his students' interest in the subject he teaches. He always has a friendly word regardless of the time or place. Even though he works on weekends a"d e 1len'ngs, he
will gladly take an hour to explain a problem in stoichiometry.- Nor does he mind staying for a rege Fl·s re ew class 'till six or seven o'clock, though he has a wife and four children waiting at home. He is unders ano'ng .~ so eone couldn't get his homework done, but won't be taken advantage of. If one is lucky enough to have class a:"er ncn he knows cookies, candy, and ice cream can be eaten openly, and entertainment in the fo rm of a g '+ar a:o"'pa rnent may even be allowed. How many little "tips" has he given his students?-syrup of ip ica k, poiso co,..,··c ce ter's phone number, the ingredients of a whisky sour. And how many girls have been complime n+ea 0 -"e r De e before class? How many times has he grinned in amusement when a lab experiment was a COIT'D e-e: cc?
Because he is all these things and much more, the senior class dedicates this book to Mr. R'c 0 shall
always be remembered as a fine teacher and a good friend.
