A resume markets your education, accomplishments, experience, and skills. Create one now for part-time jobs, internships, research, networking, graduate schools, study abroad, and other opportunities. It’s also a visual reminder of what to build on while in college. Your degree will only take up one line of your resume; now is the time to gain skills and experiences to showcase on the rest of your resume.

Attend a Resume Writing workshop.

Have your resume critiqued. Visit the Career Center for a drop-in appointment, Monday–Thursday, 10 a.m.–3 p.m., and Friday, 10 a.m.–12 p.m.

Upload your final resume into UCR Handshake.

Update your resume as you gain new experiences.

Get involved on campus and build relationships. Join student organizations. Seek leadership positions. Get to know staff and your faculty — visit them during office hours. Meet with your academic advisers and attend Career Center workshops, panels, and information sessions with prospective employers.

Explore and join UCR Student Organizations. Check out your options online at highlanderlink.ucr.edu and studentlife.ucr.edu.

Learn about volunteer and research opportunities.
