Box Tops Save your Box Tops Ink Cartridges ELEMENTARY VERSE: Romans 1:16a MIDDLE/HIGH SCHOOL VERSE: Psalm 95:6-7 February 14-17, 2012 Looking Ahead Friday- March 30th will be our annual downtown park Easter Egg Hunt. Each student who is participating needs to bring at least 2 dozen plastic filled Easter Eggs. We will need parents to help hide eggs. Middle School/High School may choose to help hide or participate in this activity. REPORT CARDS Report cards will be given out at the Honor Roll Assembly on Friday, February 17th at 12:30 pm. UPCOMING HOLIDAYS March 2nd (SPEECH MEET) April 2nd– Apri l 13th (SPRING BREAK) Box Tops Next Wednesday (Feb 22nd) is our last day to get in on the competition this month. Mrs. Silva will be coming around to the classes at the end of the day to collect each classes Box Tops. Let’s go gang! Bring in those B ox Tops in the next week!!! Math Olympics Friday, March 23rd is the annual Math Olympics. This is a mathe matical competi - tion for students in 3rd-8th grade students. There IS school that day (the competition is in Santa Maria) but our Math contestants will leave school part way through the day. The list of students who are “invited” will be posted in a few weeks. This is actuall y one of our students favorite academic competitions as there is no pressure. You sit in a room at your own desk with peers and take a short series of Math te sts (like 10 probl ems). Very low pressure and a fun day for the older stu- dents to participate in. Next Week Mrs. Nason will be out next Wednesday- Friday and possibly a part of the following week for some medical procedures down at UCLA. Probably will not be reachable on Wednesday (22nd) , however, Laurie Quiram (Mrs .Q) will be acting admini s- trator while I am gone. She can answer your questions or forward information to me. You can also t ext Jennifer Loewen if you need to get to me directly as she will be down there with me part of the time. Will look forward to being back as quickly as I can. There may be one more tri p I need to take down there for surgery within the next few months. The outcome of this first procedure will tell me what the next step will be. Just wanting to give everyone a heads up! Tuition Remember that February tuition is due. Testing Some parents have requested that this year we do stan dardized testing. We are will ing to do it but we would need to know how many parents are interested in this before we begin ordering tests. The testing w ill be done in April. The cost per student will run anywhere from $40-$50 per student de- pending on how many students are testing. If we have a majority of parents wanting testing the cos t will go do wn. There is spe- cial training for teachers to go through now to be able to be a testing facilitator. Please let me know ASA P ( no later than the 24th of February via email or text message) if you are int erested. If you h ave a stud ent registered through TUSD you can get your students their testing there at no charge.
