HOW TO ENTER: Students from classes in grades 9-12 as of 9/15/06 may enter the contest by submitting an original photo collage poster comprised of original photographs depicting a Hispanic theme (“entry”). Entries may be completed by individual students or may be done together by a group or class. Entries must be submitted by a student or a class teacher. Collage aspect of the entry must be comprised primarily of photographs, but may also include drawings, art materials, etc. The collage must be two-dimensional and may not be larger than 22"x 28". The back of each entry must include the student’s name (if applicable), teacher’s name, name of school, school address, school telephone number, grade, and local cable provider (if known). The information submitted will be used solely for the purposes of notifying winners. Entries should be sent to: A&E HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTHPHOTO COLLAGE CONTEST, P.O. Box 7976, Melville, NY 11775-7976. Students/teachers on behalf of class may enter as often as they wish, but each entry must be a different collage. Student/teacher may submit multiple entries in bulk, as long as each entry contains the required information listed above. Contest begins 9/15/06 and ends 10/31/2006 and entries must be postmarked by 11:59:59 p.m. ET on 10/31/06. Entries must be received no later than 11/7/2006. Mechanically reproduced entries are void. 2. PRIZES/JUDGING: One (1) Grand Prize winner, two (2) First Prize winners and four (4) Second Prize winners will be determined from among all eligible entries received. Odds of winning depend on total number of eligible entries received. Each winning student or class receives a prize, a prize for their corresponding teacher and a prize for corresponding school. GRAND PRIZE (1): Student or Class: $2,000 [awarded in the form of a check, to the student (or parent if winner is a minor) or school if entry via a teacher] and KODAK EASYSHARE Z612 Zoom Digital Camera (Est. Retail Value: $400) Teacher: $500 (awarded in the form of a check, to the teacher) School: The History Channel en español DVD Library (At least 8 hours in length) (Est. Retail Value of Library: $200). FIRST PRIZE (2): Student or Class: $500 [awarded in the form of a check, to the student (or parent if winner is a minor) or school if entry via a teacher] Teacher: $100 (awarded in the form of a check, to the teacher) School: The History Channel en español DVD Library (At least 8 hours in length) (Est. Retail Value of Library: $200). SECOND PRIZE (4): Student or Class: $250 [awarded in the form of a check, to the student (or parent if winner is a minor) or school if entry via a teacher) Teacher: $50 (awarded in the form of a check, to the teacher) School: The History Channel en español DVD Library (At least 8 hours in length) (Est. Retail Value of Library: $200). Entries will be judged based on the following criteria: Effectiveness in conveying the Hispanic Heritage theme (1/3); Creativity (1/3); Execution and Presentation (1/3). Collages that are larger than 22"x 28" or contain lewd or inappropriate material, as deemed by Sponsor (as defined below), in its sole discretion, are not eligible. Judging to determine winning entries will be conducted by a panel of artists, graphic designers and educators (selected by Sponsor) whose decisions are final on all matters relating to this contest. In the event of a tie, tied entries will be re-judged based solely on creativity. All prizes will be awarded. Prizes are not transferable; no substitutions are allowed, except by the Sponsor who reserves the right to award a prize of equal or greater value if advertised prize is unavailable. Students and teachers (if entered on behalf of a class) will be notified by mail on or about 11/30/06. All student winners (if 18 or older) or their parents/legal guardians (if under 18) or the applicable school principal, if a teacher entered on behalf of a class, will be required to execute and return an affidavit of eligibil- ity, authenticity, liability/publicity release and assignment of rights within ten (10) days of notification attempt or the prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner determined. Corresponding winning teachers will be required to complete a prize acceptance form prior to prize award after winning students are notified. Corresponding school prizes will be sent directly to the principal listed on the winning student’s affidavit. Taxes, if any, related to the prize are the responsibility of the winning student or his/her parent/legal guardian. Grand Prize Winner will be issued an IRS 1099 tax form for the actual value of his/her prize. No responsibility or liability is assumed for damages, losses or injury resulting from acceptance or use of any prize. 3. GENERAL: Contest is governed by the laws of the State of New York. All entries must be the sole, original work of the entering student/class. Judges may disqualify previously produced artwork or those that have won previous awards or competitions. Entries become the property of A&E Television Networks and will not be acknowledged or returned. Entrants/winners acknowledge and agree that their entries become the property of A&E Television Networks, which thereby has the right to edit, adapt, modify, reproduce, publish, promote and otherwise use entries in any way it sees fit without any compensation to entrant whatsoever. By entering this contest, entrants/winners agree: (1) to release the Sponsor and its agents from all liability, loss or damage arising out of their participation in the contest and with respect to their acceptance and use/misuse of the prizes; (2) to be bound by the Official Rules; and (3) to the use of their names and likenesses for advertising and promotional purposes solely in connection with this promotion, in all media worldwide (including online) without additional compensation, except in TN and where otherwise prohibited by law. No responsibility is assumed for lost, misdirected, illegible, damaged, postage due or late entries or mail. No information regarding entries or judging will be disclosed.
