WHITE ROCK VINEYARDS 2009 “LAUREATE” CABERNET SAUVIGNON NAPA VALLEY 97% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Petit Verdot TECHNICAL DATA Production: 471 cases Barrel Aging: 23 months in French Oak 40% new barrels (Taransaud, Sylvain, Darnajou, Bossuet). Bottled: Sept 2011, unfiltered Chemistry: Alcohol 14.8 % pH 3.67 Total Acidity 6.5 g/l Zero residual sugar Vineyard: Estate grown, produced, and bottled one mile off Silverado Trail, east of Yountville on the south end of the Stag’s Leap Range. East and west facing hilltops with white volcanic ash soils in a microclimate a few degrees cooler than the valley floor. Winemaker’s Notes: The 2009 Laureate is dark garnet in color, deep and ripe. The nose shows full blackberry, raspberry, dark plum, and black pepper. Complex and textured, the mouth presents itself loaded with black cherries and chocolate, with hints of olive and black pepper. The finish is long and lingering with balanced tannin and structure. This vintage of Laureate is ready to drink immediately (and will age gracefully for 10-15 years). White Rock Vineyards: Situated in a small valley in the southern foothills of the Stag’s Leap Range, the estate began producing wine in the 1870’s. The Vandendriessche family has continued in the tradition of natural sustainable farming since 1977. Volcanic ash soils, hillside vines, cooler climate, and hand crafting on the land as well as in the caves make these wines complex and concentrated, with mineral characteristics, expressing the earth itself. OUR STORYWhite Rock Vineyards is situated at the southern end of the Stags Leap Range. First planted in 1870, the vineyards were revived by our parents in 1977. We now make our home in the old stone winery pictured in the engraving on our label. It looks East past the vines to caves where we produce and age our wines.OUR WINEThe white volcanic soils produce wines that are rich and complex. The Laureate is crafted from the topmost vines of our hillside vineyard, and blended from barrels of particular depth and intensity. 2007 was an excellent vintage for Napa Valley Cabernet. This savory wine has a core of plum and graphite, layers of black cherry and licorice, and a long dark finish. 660 cases produced

The resulting Laureate is dense and focused, with fragrant plum and violet aromas, and lingering flavors of blackberry, cedar, and licorice. Structured and elegant, the wine is long and the finish is silky. 471 cases produced
