Thanks to all of you for helping make 2010 a wonderful year for St.

Philip’s. Lives have been touched and disciples have been made for Christ.

God has brought people to our church is some pretty amazing ways. They

have come through our “Evening in Old Bethlehem,” through worship, through

recovery ministries, through connections with our members out in the commu-

nity. And you have shown them what it means to be a church family.

When our finances were sluggish, we put out a call for second mile giv-

ing and you did, enabling us to continue sharing the love of Christ with others.

I know it has not always been easy, but you have been faithful the God’s call-

ing on your lives.

As we approach 2011, we know there will be challenges to us as indi-

viduals and as a church. God will never ask of us only that which is easy, but

rather that which God believes we can do. It will most likely require sacrificial

giving of our time and our resources, but we have learned that with God’s

help, all things are indeed possible. I look forward to another great year in

ministry together. I hope you do as well. Lisa Callaway

With Psychologist (and Parent) Bill Crawford, Ph.D The Day School is hosting this class on Thursday, Jan. 13 at 6:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall. All parents are invited. In our attempt to be good parents and raise good kids, one area most of us find frustrating is the problem of getting kids to listen, cooperate, and follow instructions. In fact, this often turns into a power struggle where even if the child is forced to obey, the result is rarely satisfying. For more information or make reservations, please contact Monica Ferriera, Director of Day School at 713-666-2761.

Stewardship Message

Revisit each of these verses: Proverbs 3:9-10; Romans 12:6 …continue with the questions below. Take some quiet time to expound on your personal attitudes toward these questions. As Christians, it is our responsibility to become edu-cated as to what is expected by God from us. Knowledge moves mountains. 8. Have you forsaken your opportunities and responsibilities? If so, is there a way to improve on this? 9. What has your church done with the resources and opportunities the Lord has given? 10. How has your church put its resources back into promoting the Kingdom? How can it do so better? 11. What does it mean to you that our God trusts you with His most valuable goods and people? What have you done? What will you do? 12. Why cannot you be committed to Christ and be motivated by the love of money (Luke 16:10)? 13. Do you really believe that real wealth in life is not in money, but rather in relationships and obedience? If not, why? If so, why? 14. How does it make you feel that when your talents are functioning as they are given to you, you become Christ’s hands and feet in the world?
