What’s At StakeJeremy Story has served as the President of CRM for 13 years. He is married with six children. His work with CRM has taken him to almost every state and 5 continents.

Just as this semester was beginning a friend and I were walking down the street in a midwestern town and saw a well-meaning but misguided church sign. It read, “Don’t Just Do Something. Sit here.” The church in America has become irrelevant to the world around us as we sit in ‘holy huddles’ expecting the world to come to us. Much of what we do is centered around somehow attracting people to come to our church events or Sunday services. Here is the problem: It isn’t working. Every year the percentage of

the population that are active Christians is decreasing. Church growth isn’t even keeping up with the birth rate.

Jesus told us in John 17 to be “in the world and not of it.” We have opted to be out of the world and not of it. He also told us to “be one as He and the Father are one.” We have opted to divide and compete. Here is what is at stake: the cultural and spiritual state of our nation. If we continue to allow those not following Christ to assume leadership of our society it will affect us all. Only Christ provides the true answers that bring health to a nation. Since God lives in us, it is vital that we allow him to lead us out into leading in all aspects of our culture from art to science and government to business.

At Campus Renewal Ministries we transform colleges to transform our world by graduating leaders who permeate and transform culture. We believe that colleges shape our future

leaders and national outlook. Former UN Ambassador Charles Malik’s assessment is true, “Change the university and you will change the world.” The enemy of our souls is using colleges to send out missionaries for his agenda. We should not and must not lose this battle.

It is not just about reaching college students, it is about shifting their paradigms so they see church in a whole new light. We must train them how to bring the church to the very fields where they plan to work. What if your average engineer knew how to start a weekly Bible study at his company and have a church service there? What if people were ‘doing church’ during breaks on the set of the next hit TV show because one of the actors brought Christ with him?

That is what CRM is doing: winning a new generation of leaders to Christ, teaching them to bridge man made organizational boundaries between denominations, and unite with other Christians to go out and transform culture through planting missional communities.

We forge partnerships in prayer to build missional communities that transform college campuses with the gospel of Jesus.

Colleges shape our nation’s culture unlike any other institution by graduating top leaders into every societal sphere.

Percent of America’s college students not actively following Jesus

We must build partnerships between ministry leaders who work with college students to tackle this problem together.

Percent of today’s youth who will leave the church by age 22**Christianity Today Magazine

To engage today’s college students we must give them a mission worth dying for. Filling a pew isn’t enough.

We must equip college graduates to pierce culture

by planting missional communities every sphere of society where they will work and in the neighborhoods where they will live.

We have met, provided consulting services, and/or counseled with most college ministry leaders in the NYC metro area.

We have been hosting regular monthly strategy and prayer meetings among the college ministry leaders in the metro area. The result is the first New York City-wide college ministry network. More students will be reached!

This leadership development work has involved hundreds of personal meetings. The result has been a stronger campus ministry leadership community. The result is improved prayer lives, pastors and parachurch staff trusting God for bigger advances and improved fruitfulness!

A team of highly committed students from NYC campuses has been formed. We are coaching and discipling them to build the first ever city-wide collegiate prayer network. The result will be prayer catalysts on all 88 NYC colleges by May 2011. Prayer is the groundwork for opening doors of transformational culture change on every campus!

God has empowered us to organize three city-wide college student prayer and worship gatherings that have touched about half of all the active Christian students in NYC. The result is a rapidly growing number of students who are praying and sharing Christ successfully with their friends!

We hosted five Spark Courses which have trained approximately 150 students to plant small versions of a church called a missional communities where they live, work, or play. The result is students who will evangelize throughout the city and infect their friends with this vision!

We completed the first NYC campus ministry survey. We interviewed almost every campus pastor and parachurch staff plus hundreds of students. It provides the best understanding of the state of campus ministry in NYC. This will guide churches and parachurch groups across the city as to which campuses still need to be reached and how to best reach them. The result will be a multiplication of workers because many uninvolved people and churches will begin reaching students.

The NYC Hub has provided the opportunity to influence the northeast: Here are some examples:

The past two years we have focused on mostly the Ivy League colleges. The result is that Dartmouth, Cornell, Brown, and the University of Pennsylvania now have Fusion Group meetings that bring the parachurch and church leaders together in prayer, friendship, and strategic planning to reach their campus.

We had the opportunity to encourage Yale ministry leaders to increase the frequency and strategic focus of their existing prayer meeting and helped a Harvard parachurch staff worker begin a similar group there. Over a decade ago we helped start the pastoral leadership prayer and planning time at Princeton. The result is increased prayer, partnership, and ministry multiplication among the ministry and church leaders at every Ivy League campus!

In the coming year we plan to expand beyond the Ivy League to other major campuses throughout the northeast.

90 hours a week are covered in prayer through students at the Campus House of Prayer. The result is constant prayer coverage and increased fruit for all the ministries and churches at UT.

Over 1,000 students attended our campus-wide events in the Fall and Spring (All Campus Worship and Rez Week). The result is continued momentum for prayer and evangelism across the entire body of Christ at UT.

22 student leaders were trained at our Revival Retreat. The result is a group of highly capable students infecting the rest of the campus with a hunger for transformation.

We continue to gather the ministry and church leaders weekly for prayer and planning. The result is movements like Renovate UT, a project among some of the ministries to share data and plant a missional community within reach of every UT student.

625 students became Christians last school year, there are 218 missional communities, and about 10% of the campus are involved Christians. The result is that the number of students who came to Christ this and last year is at an historic high and has been steadily increasing over the past ten years.

The University of Texas hub has provided the opportunity to influence the southwest. Here is an example:

Texas State University- We helped gather all the pastors and parachurch leaders to pray weekly. The result is they have grown in deep trust and love for one another. Their resulting partnership for the Gospel is reaching more students. These leaders hosted their first Rez Week, which mobilized hundreds of students to spread the Gospel the week before Easter.

“Christian organizations on campus have come together for the first time in decades to spread the Word of Christ for Rez Week.” Emili, student at Texas State.

We doubled from two to four staff. The result is greater capacity to transform the campus and southeast region.

We opened a three-story building which serves as a training center and house of prayer right next to campus. The result is 35 hours a week in regularly committed prayer times! The goal is to have a ‘war room’ that will never cease day or night in providing a prayer covering for the transformation of the University.

We launched and nurtured a weekly prayer and strategic planning meeting between all the campus pastors and parachurch leaders at UTK. It has outgrown the capacity of the meeting room in our training center so we are

launching a second group to accommodate more pastors. The results are the deepest relationships and renewed sense of hope and evangelistic mission among these leaders ever. This means more students will be reached and discipled!

We are launching and recruiting students from across the nation for The Timothy Call. It is a year-long internship program which will be one of the most selective and intense college ministry training programs in the nation. The result will be an elite force of 10 people who will be trained to mobilize prayer, partnership and organic evangelism nationwide.

We gathered students for “All Campus Worship and Prayer,” an event geared to mobilizing and energizing the whole body of Christ. We also mobilized a week of non-stop prayer in which students signed up to pray in the

house of prayer in hour long blocks. The result is that hundreds of students were given a taste of what it really means to transform culture through prayer.

The University of Tennessee hub has provided the opportunity to influence the southeast. Here are some examples:

Middle Tennessee State- We formed a student leadership team and trained them to launch a Fusion Group. These students have begun building a network among the Christian leaders on their campus. The result is the birth of a movement which will cause many more students to follow Christ who wouldn’t otherwise be reached.

University of Florida- Years ago, we helped the pastors and parachurch leaders lay a foundation of united prayer. We are now helping them to launch Spark Groups across the campus.

We will host a conference in the Spring to train students how to plant these missional communities. The result will be students sent out in small groups to plant and lead evangelistic fellowships in their dorms, student clubs, and hangouts. Many will be exposed to the Gospel who would never darken the doors of a traditional church building.

We get the opportunity to serve and help many other ministries and churches. By supporting CRM you are helping to broaden the impact and reach of many other movements, ministries and churches across the nation!

National Prayer Committee

CRM helped host the past two NPC annual meetings at our Arizona State Hub and University of Texas Hub. The result has been an increase in interest by many top ministry leaders in working with college students.

Jeremy Story, CRM President, has served on the NPC Executive Committee. The result is raising up the next generation of prayer leaders through transforming the way the NPC operates and by linking seasoned leaders with younger leaders.

Intercessors for America

Jeremy Story, CRM President, has served on the Board, the Executive Board, and CEO Search Committee to help IFA select a new national CEO as they seek to involve a new generation of intercessors.

God has also allowed the CRM President to serve with a few other board members on a strategic planning team. The result is giving

IFA the ability to connect and mobilize 100,000 new intercessors within the next four years who will pray for and directly influence our nation’s top leaders!

Collegiate Day of Prayer

Brent Kanyok and Jeremy Story played a significant role in gathering a round table of some of the most promising younger college ministry leaders with national influence. These relationships inspired us to launch the Collegiate Day of Prayer together. The result was thousands of adults and college students praying at 500 sites in 45 states last February and significant momentum built towards mobilizing adults to pray and minister to college students! The goal this February is to mobilize four times as many to adopt and specifically pray for every college in America.

National Collegiate Ministry Leaders Fellowship

Jeremy Story, CRM President, continues to meet annually in a small group with the national collegiate directors for most major parachurch groups and denominations. These leaders tend to be older and represent the more established organizations. These relationships have grown very deep. Every leader involved views it as one of the top highlights of their year.

After advocating for such a meeting for many years it has been such a blessing to see some of these leaders launch and grow it. The result is trust and collaboration at levels unheard of in the past few decades.

Across The NationYour investment in Campus Renewal Ministries is an investment in multiplying other ministries too

We Need Your HelpTogether we can build a national network dedicated to transforming colleges, revolutionizing the church, and placing missional Christian leaders in every segment of society.

Our current budget is a little over 500,000 annually. Our new goal is to double that budget to 1 million. Why?Under our current budget:

• many of our staff are underpaid and must cut corners for basic personal expenses this limits them from reaching their maximum ministry potential

• we are limited in how much we can travel to have important face-to-face recruiting and training meetings

• we can not hire the executive level leaders we desperately need to take this vision into every state, our President alone can not effectively lead a national expansion without other national leadership

• we can not hire the extra hub staff we need to free up our current staff to more broadly impact campuses in their region

Reaching this goal together will allow us to:• pay staff modestly but adequately• break the nation into 11 hubs, recruit directors for all 11 regions, and be in close proximity to every college in the nation• finish production on an inspirational documentary of God’s movement on college campuses which will inspire and launch thousands of

students and ministry staff to revolutionizing the way ministry is done on college campuses• plant multiple leadership prayer and strategic planning groups (Fusion Groups) in every state which will multiply the efforts of hundreds of

other college ministry and church leaders nationwide• raise up a critical mass of students in every state who will launch a national movement to plant missional communities (Spark Groups) on

their campuses• launch a national online magazine dedicated to telling the stories of what God is doing on campuses across the nation through prayer,

partnership, and mission which will cause these stories to multiply onto other campuses• host conferences in every region to train students and their leaders how to mobilize prayer and plant missional communities

Imagine a network of like minded ministry leaders and students united to revolutionize the next generation of leaders in our country. Join with us to make this dream a reality.

To do this we will need people who can sacrificially give $600 (or $50 a month) to $30,000 (or $2500 a month). Will you make a gift or monthly pledge today?
