At Source o Light, we are burdened to bring children to aith in Godand to know Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord. As they knowHim, many times children have aith that God can do anything. I love to be

with children to see how they trust God or many things in their lives.

Years ago Joy Thompson asked her daddy, Cam Thompson, author oour Master Secrets o Prayer, how much a tricycle would cost. Thenshe asked how many pennies it would be, and began to pray specically. A

ew days later, a girl who was heading to college suggested that her ather

donate her piggy bank to some mission project, so it was given to Cam.

When they counted the pennies, the total was just a ew dollars more than

the cost o the tricycle. Cam told Joy that God even remembered the sales

tax!

In our early years o missionary service at Source o Light, our incomewas one tenth o what I had previously. Some riends donated usedclothing to the missionaries. Our daughter, Jeanne, began praying or a

graduation dress, so I checked in our missionary boutique or a dress. I

ound a used dress and showed it to Jeanne, but she said, Thats not thedress that I asked God or so we told her to keep praying. Soon I learned

that a new dress had come in, still in a box. When we showed the glisten-

ing white dress to Jeanne, she said, Thats the dress I asked God or! I

suggested that she try it on. I have never orgotten her statement o aith

when she said, God knows my size, and it t perectly.

Many times since, I have been reminded that God knows the size oour expanding need worldwide as Source o Light continues to op-erate by aith in the God who cannot ail or He is God! He knows oursize.

In 1982, I was approached by asta member o Child EvangelismFellowship to serve as one o theirBible Correspondence Ministryteachers. Having a heart to serveGod ever since I had accepted theLord Jesus as my personal Saviour

in 1973, I accepted the invitationreadily, though I must coness thatI was a bit apprehensive about myability to do the job well.

Ater some timeo serving in thatministry, my heart

and courage to domore grew or thatministry, and Iaccepted more oersand became involvedin ace-to-ace teach-ings, outreach, and

evangelism. I wasinvited to give aneducational program in a primaryschool (or ages 7 to 12 years old).Since it was a mission school, Itook the opportunity to use it asan outreach program, and rightaway thought o using Source

o Light Bible lessons. Te totalnumber o students assigned tome was slightly more than 280. Inaddition to this group o students,I also took the opportunity to

reach out to other students o theschool by hanging around at theschool canteen. Lessons given tothe students in class were allowedto be taken home.

Ater some years, even though I

was oered by a church to considermaking this ministry a part o thechurchs outreach, I rejected theoer because my outreach work

might be limited. I desired to ollowthe purpose statement o SLM:to disseminate Gospel literature,portions o Scripture . . . into thehands o the multitudes in as manylands and languages as possible.

I would like to share with you the ministry o Source oLight Singapore. Singaporeis a multi-cultural and a multi-

religious country. Tus, we haveto be very careul in our outreach

work. Singapore is very blessedand the society is very open toChristianity, although we needto observe mutual respect or theother religions (namely Buddhism,Islam, Hinduism, etc.). For thisreason, you can nd many para

churches setting up their oces inSingapore, besides many churcheso various denominations.

As ar back as 1985, we sawmany oreign workers rom variouscountries focking to Singaporeto work, the latest largely rom

mainland China. Tus, there was asaying that we do not have to eventravel out or an overseas mission;the Lord has brought the missionto our doorstep. Tis is very truein the ministry o SLM or a largepercentage o our students are

oreign workers in Singapore.Many o these oreign workers onlyhave one day a month o (mostlyon a Sunday), or no o-day at all.It has always been my burden or

this group o people, becausethey are away rom their lovedones and in a oreign land.I believe that knowing Godloves and cares or them is

very important and hope thiswill bring comort and joy tothem. Besides providing reeBible lessons, we also giveaway complete Bibles, tothose who request them.

With Gods abundant grace, washow Source o Light Singaporegot started and kept going andgrowing despite many challengingmoments along the way. I amalways very grateul to those whokeep praying and supporting thisministry. Without their response

to Gods leading, this ministrywould not have been able to exist.

The Source o Light Bible courses

have been in our country or more

than 40 years and they are a blessing

to many who take and minister withthese courses.

We consider this ministry as an

ecient tool to do missions. In Acts 1:8, we see that to do missions we

receive the necessary power to do so.But ye shall receive power after

that the Holy Ghost is come upon you. To accomplish this command

you shall be witnesses unto me; or a simultaneous global and local

outreach both in Jerusalem, and in Judea, and in Samaria, and untothe uttermost part of the earth.

The courses are being used with

great results or evangelism in the

prisons, in the public schools, and

or evangelism in the churches.

The courses are even used by non-

christian teachers that need thismaterial or religious education.

We believe that the biggest

blessing o the Bible courses here

in Brazil is in planting churches. The Source o Light Baptist Church

is proo o how the courses can be used. We began this ministry ve

years ago and God has saved many people and edied the Christians.

Bill and Bonnie James met as

teenagers in Florida at a Youth or

Christ rally. Married orty-our

years, they have three sons and

our grandchildren. Two o their

sons are in ministry. Two o their

grandchildren are in Alaska wheretheir oldest son and his wie serve in a small village as missionary

dorm parents to Native teenagers.

Bill was working with IBM as a programmer when he was called into

ministry over thirty years ago. He began printing tracts as a part o a street

ministry in the Atlanta-inner city projects. Over 18 million tracts, many

in Spanish, were printed during a period o 15 years. In 1990, Bill took

a mission trip to the ormer USSR beore the breakup o communism.Soon ater he began working with the Bible League to help send Bibles

behind the iron curtain. He also worked with Bibles or the World mailing

Scriptures into Central America where so many o his tracts were being

distributed. This was during his orty plus trips there.

In 1994, Bill was part o the ounding o The Christian Care Medi-

Share Ministry, or pastors, missionaries, Christian business men and their

amilies world-wide. He served with them or 12 years. In 2001, Bill hada heart attack and knew that God had spared his lie or some specic job

yet to be done. In 2006, when Bill and Bonnie took a mission trip to Alaska

with their church, they knew it was to work with missions there. That has

been their heartbeat since that trip.

They knew right away that SLM was a perect match or the people hard

to reach in the villages o the rozen north. Bonnie had graded lessons at a

Baptist church teen years ago and was amiliar with the materials. Lastyear, they elt the Lord was leading them to join SLM. Bill will be serving

as Director o Public Relations as well as a Field Representative. They pray

that the Lord will open doors or many more Bible correspondence schools,

especially in Alaska.

In 2008, we realized that God wascalling us to sell our home and use the

money to start a new Branch o SLM on

the south coast o Jamaica. Don and I

moved orward, incorporating as Follow

the Source Discipleship Training Centre.

We did not realize how long it had been

in the planning!

When we started looking at property inthe area where we work, we ound

that there was nothing available

that we could aord. There was a

property there, owned by a good

riend. It was a beautiul place

but ar more then we could ever

aord, even i he had wanted to

sell it.

Finally we asked i he would

consider dividing the property

and selling us a small piece.

God did a miracle. He placed the

desire in his heart to donate the

entire property o over our acres

or this ministry! However, we

knewwe would have to sell our

home in the US beore we couldbegin to build the mission house.

One night, as Don and I were talking,

we discussed a very small lot in the

mountains that we had inherited. It had

been purchased in the mid 1960s, on a

tax sale or $250. We knew it wouldnt

bring much but we wouldnt need the lot.

So, we decided to sell it. Two hours aterour conversation we received a call, with

an oer or that little lot. It seems that it

had become a popular tourist area. We

were able to sell the lot or enough to get

a very good start on building the house.However, we knew we would have to

nish it ater our house was sold.

The house was about hal done. I had

to leave or Jamaica to take care o some

paperwork. I was going to have to tell

the workers who were doing such a great

job, that they would have to stop. I hated

to do that. I they got an oer to work

another job, they would not be available

until it was complete. Yet I didnt see

that there was a choice.

My bags were packed. I checked

my E-mail one more time. There it was

. . . our account statement rom SLM.

Somehow we had another $5,000 inthe account! We were amazed. Since I

couldnt get into the bank beore I let,

I made arrangements to have the money

wired to the bank in Jamaica beore I let

or the airport. Once again we had seen

an 8,000-gallon water tank. The house, including the roo, is

money?? We thought we had to buy land.

We thought we had to sell our house

beore doing anything . . . However, Godhad other plans. I suddenly realized this

ministry had not been our idea! It was

Gods! He knew, back when that lot was

purchased or $250 that He was going to

use it to build an SLM Branch in Jamaica,

some 45 years later! Our house isnt sold

as yet, but we are condent that God is incontrol.He has the plans or Follow the

Source DTC, in Jamaica.

Indonesi is the ourth lrgest country in the world, nd the lrgestMusli country in the world, with popultion o 240,000,000. Does Godlove Muslis? He ust, since He just enbled SLM to estblish newBrnch in Indonesi.

Erly in 2008, God rised up n,Brother P (pictured t right), who hs treendous burden to rech his country orChrist. He quit his well-pying job in the

business world in 2007, nd begn to prytht God would direct hi into inistry.Little did Brother P know tht SLM wslso prying in 2007, tht God would ledthe to n Indonesin n with burdennd vision to strt new SLM work in thecountry. Needless to sy, God nswered both pryers. When Brother P herdbout SLM, he contcted our ofce requesting tht representtive coe to

Jkrt, the cpitl city, to introduce the SLM inistry.Ater visit to Jkrt in June o 2008, SLM personnel greed tht

God hd His hnd on this n. Thereore, on second visit to Jkrt inOctober 2009, Risogrph printing equipent ws purchsed or BrotherP to begin publishing nd distributing the SLM Bible courses in theIndonesin lnguge. He will begin on his hoe islnd o Jv where hehs contcts with 80-100 pstors.

As Gods Word goes orth, we believe God will use BrotherP nd his coworkers to bring in very lrge hrvest tht He hs prepred,nd to gretly strengthen the existing churches in Indonesi. God saved me when I was 11 years old and I dedicated mylie to be a missionary when I was 12. I had a burning desireto be a missionary and wanted to go to the most primitivepeople in the world.

Ater graduating rom high school, I went to TennesseeTemple University. While waiting or God to show me myplace I heard a missionary speak about a place in what wasthen Dutch New Guinea. He showed slides rom a villagenamed Senggo. The people were very primitive (in the Stone

Age culture some were still practicing headhunting andcannibalism).

When I saw his slides it seemed as i God said, That isgoing to be your place.

In July, 1964, I went to my place, which at that time hadbecome a part o Indonesia and was Irian Barat, Indonesia now Irian Jaya or West Papua, Indonesia.

During my 40 years and three months there, I never oncedoubted that I was in Gods will. He gave me the almostunbelievable privilege o reducing the unwritten language towriting and translating the New Testament into two languages Citak and Tamnim.

I got to be the frst white person to go into an area where thepeople were still practicing headhunting and cannibalism. I got

to participate in the church dedication in one o those villagesand hear Boar, the village chie, and ormer headhunter say,Thank you or coming. Thank you or telling us how to go toHeaven. You brought us out o the darkness into the light.

God is good and it is a privilege to serve Him.

My journey with the Lord has been a story o takingsomeone weak, unqualifed, and spiritually inconsistent

to inconceivable places. My story is one o a great Godusing an imperect vessel or a unique calling thatbecomes most apparent when I am orced to look backand recognize what He has done in my lie.

God developed leadership experience as I passedthrough management positions in Corporate America. Ideveloped business experience through the starting o

a small business. I continued to develop patience andsensitivity through a wonderul wie and two teenagedaughters.

But the most signifcant development has beenspiritual. God placed me in a Christian home andbrought me to Himsel when I was young. He nurturedme through a Baptist church in Decatur, Georgia, to a

point o total surrender in 1986.

The unexpected and unrealistic becomes mostevident as my current church, Crosspointe Ministries,partnered with Source o Light Ministries in theestablishment o a Christian School in Ethiopia. At age52, this is a season o total dependency on God as Idiscover my inadequacy and His sufciency.

I am honored to now serve on the Board o Sourceo Light Ministries, as well as, Elder at CrosspointeMinistries. The uture is Gods and the possibilities areendless.

Thats how Jesus described our earthly treasure store. Youcan lock it up and seal it and make it as sae as you can, but thelesson o the recent economic turmoil is clear all we thought

we had will inevitably be eaten away, and thieves will mostcertainly steal (as many trusting investors tragically learned).

All o which brings up a rather important point; Jesus saidthe problem was that we had our savings in the wrong Bank!The Bank called earth is vulnerable to all kinds o dangers thatwill eventually reduce all our savings to nothing absolutelycertain! On the other hand, the Bank called Heaven is so securethat every treasure placed there will be waiting our arrival andadd to our enjoyment orever.

Heavenly treasures are the investments we make in the onlything in the world that is eternal the souls o men and women.A tract handed to a stranger, a Bible lesson sent to a seekingheart, a ervent prayer lited to God on behal o another. Jesus

promised that not even a cup o cold water given in His namewould go unnoticed. Amazingly, even earthly mammon canbe made eternal when invested in the salvation o souls (Luke16:9). Jesus taught that resources invested in the salvation osouls would produce eternal riends who would welcome us inglory.
