The man of violence and deceit is

abhorred by the Lord.

In the Fullness of Thy Mercy I will enter

Thy House - in fear of Thee I will worship towards Thy Holy Temple.

O Lord, lead me in Thy Righteousness

because of my enemies; make straight Thy Way before me.

For there is no Truth in their mouth;

their heart is vain; their throat is an open tomb; they deal deceptively with their tongues.

Judge them, O God.

Let them fall by their false accusations;

cast them out in the multitude of their ungodliness, for they provoked Thee, O Lord.

And let all who hope in Thee be glad;

forever they will greatly Rejoice, for Thou will dwell in them; and all who Love Thy Name, will boast in Thee, for Thou will Bless the Righteous.

O Lord, Thou hast Crowned us with the

Shield of Thy Good Will.

PRIEST O Master and Lord, Jesus Christ our

God, Who is Long-suffering towards our faults, and has brought us even to this present hour, in which, hanging upon the Life-giving Cross, Thou opened the Way into Paradise for the Repentant Thief, and destroyed Death by Death: be Merciful to us, Thy humble and sinful and unworthy servants.

For we have sinned and transgressed, and

we are not worthy to lift up our eyes to behold the Heights of Heaven, since we have forsaken the Path of Thy Righteousness and have walked according to the desires of our own hearts.

We beseech Thine Infinite Mercy: spare

us, O Lord, according to the abundance of Thy Mercy, and Save us for Thy Holy Name’s sake, for our days have been consumed in vanity.

Pluck us from the hand of the adversary,

forgive us our sins, and destroy our fleshly lusts, that putting off the Old Man, we may put on the New, and may live for Thee, our Master and Protector; and so, following Thine Ordinances, we may attain to Eternal Rest, in the Place where all the Joyful dwell.

For Thou, O Christ our God, are indeed

the True Joy and Gladness of those who Love Thee. > And unto Thee we ascribe Glory, together with Thy Father Who is without beginning, and Thy Most Holy, Good and Life-giving Spirit, now and ever, and to the Ages of Ages.

Amen.

Thy Throne, O God, is forever and ever -

Thy Royal Sceptre is a Sceptre of Uprightness.

Thou Loved Righteousness and hated

lawlessness; therefore, God, Thy God, Anointed Thee with the Oil of Gladness, more than Thy companions.

Myrrh and stacte and cassia pour forth

from Thy garments, from the ivory palaces from which they gladden Thee.

There are daughters of Kings in Thine

honour; the Queen stood at Thy right Hand in apparel interwoven with gold, and adorned and embroidered with various colours.

Hearken, O Daughter: and behold and

incline Thine Ear - and forget Thy people and Thy Father’s house.

And the King desired Thy Beauty for He

is Thy Lord. Thy God, and Him shall they worship.

And the Daughters of Tyre shall worship

Him with gifts - the rich among the people shall entreat Thy Favour.

All Her Glory as the King’s Daughter is

within - adorned and embroidered with golden tassels.

The Virgins behind Her shall be brought

to the King - Her neighbours shall be brought to Thee - they shall be brought with Gladness and Rejoicing - they shall be led into the Temple of the King.

In place of Thy Fathers, sons shall be born to Thee - Thou shalt make them Rulers over all the earth.

They shall remember Thy Name from

generation to generation.

Therefore people shall give thanks to

Thee forever and to the Ages of Ages.

PRIEST When they had departed, behold, an

Angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying: “Arise, take the young Child and His Mother, flee to Egypt and stay there until I bring you word; for Herod will seek the young Child to destroy Him.”

When he arose, he took the young Child

and His Mother by night and departed for Egypt, and was there until the death of Herod, that it might be fulfilled, which was spoken by the Lord through the Prophets: “Out of Egypt I called My Son.”

Then Herod, when he saw that he was

deceived by the Magi, was exceedingly angry; and he sent forth and put to death all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all its districts, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the Magi.

Then was fulfilled what was spoken by

Jeremiah the Prophet: “A voice was hear in Ramah, lamentation, weeping and great mourning; Rachel weeping for her children, refusing to be comforted, because they are no more.”

Now when Herod was dead, behold, an

Angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, saying: “Arise, take the young Child and His Mother, and go to the land of Israel, for those who sought the young Child’s Life are dead.”

Then he arose, took the young Child and

His Mother, and went into the land of Israel.

But when he heard that Archelaus was

reigning over Judea instead of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there.

and they who are Sanctified are all one, and therefore He is not ashamed to call them ‘Brethren’, saying: I will declare Thy Name to My Brethren; in the midst of the Church will I praise Thee.

And again: I will put my trust in Him.

And again: Behold: Me and My Children,

whom God has given Me.

Inasmuch then as the children have

partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through Death He might destroy him who had the power of Death – that is, the devil - and release those who through fear of Death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

For indeed, He does not give Aid to

Angels, but He does give Aid to the Seed of Abraham.

Therefore, in all things He had to be

made like His Brethren, that He might be a Merciful and Faithful High Priest in Things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.

For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted.

Then Joseph, Her Husband - being a

But while he thought about these things,

behold! An Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying: “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take unto Thee Mary Thy wife, for that which is conceived in Her, is of the Holy Spirit. And She shall bring forth a Son and Thou shalt call His Name Jesus. For He will Save His People from their sins.”

Now all this was done that it might be

fulfilled, which was spoken by the Lord through the Prophet, saying: “Behold the Virgin shall be with Child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His Name Emmanuel, which is translated as: ‘God with us.’”

Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep,

did as the Angel of the Lord had commanded him, and took to him his wife.

And he knew Her not until She brought

forth Her First-born Son1 and he called His Name Jesus.

Do Thou, O Master, Who Loves mankind,

accept these Prayers of Thanksgiving and Supplication even from us sinners, and Deliver us from every deadly and dark transgression and from all the visible and invisible enemies that seek to do us harm.

Nail our flesh with the Fear of Thee, and

let not our hearts incline towards evil words or thoughts, but wound our souls with Thy Love so that ever gazing upon Thee, guided by Thy Light and beholding Thee, the Eternal Light that no one can approach, we may send up unceasing Praises and Thanks

to Thee, > the Father without

beginning, together with Thine Only Begotten Son, and Thy Most Holy, Good and Life Giving Spirit, now and ever, and to the Ages of ages.

were kept under guard by the Law, kept for the Faith that would afterwards be revealed.

Therefore, the Law was our Tutor to bring

For you are all Children of God by Faith in

For as many of you as have been

PRIEST Now after Jesus was born in

Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the King, behold, Magi from the East came to Jerusalem, saying: “Where is He Who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His Star in the East and have come to Worship Him.”

When Herod the King heard this, he was

troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.

And when he had gathered all the Chief

Priests and Scribes of the people together, he enquired of them where the Christ was to be Born.

So they said to him: “In Bethlehem of

Judea, for thus it is written by the Prophet: ‘But you, O Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are not the least among the rules of Judah; for out of you shall come a Ruler Who will shepherd My people Israel.’”

Then Herod, when he had secretly called

the Magi, determined from them what time the Star appeared.

And he sent them to Bethlehem and said:

“Go and search carefully for the young Child, and when you have found Him, bring back word to me, so that I may go and Worship Him also.”

When they heard the King, they departed;

and behold, the Star that they had seen in the East went before them, until it came and stood over where the young Child was.

When they saw the Star, they rejoiced

with exceedingly Great Joy.

And when they went into the house, they

saw the young Child with Mary, His Mother, and fell down and Worshipped Him.

And when they had opened their

treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense and myrrh.

Are they not all Ministering Spirits sent

forth to minister to those who will inherit Salvation?

Therefore we must give the more earnest

heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away.

For if the Word spoken through Angels

proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a Just Reward, how shall we escape if we neglect so great a Salvation, which at first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him?

PEOPLE> Glory to Thee, O Lord, Glory to

PRIEST And it came to pass in those days

that a Decree went out from Caesar Auygustus that all the world should be registered.

That Census first took place while

Quirinius was governing Syria.

So all went to be registered, everyone to

his own city.

Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of

the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the City of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the House and Lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with Child.

So it was, that while they were there, the

days were completed for her to be delivered.

And she brought forth her Firstborn Son,

and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger because there was no room for them at the inn.

Now there were in the same country

Shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over the flock by night.

And behold, an Angel of the Lord stood

before them, and the Glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid.

Then the Angel said to them: “Do not be

afraid, for behold, I bring you Good Tidings of Great Joy, which will be to all people.

For there is Born to you this day in the City of David, a Saviour Who is Christ the Lord.

find an Infant wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.”

And suddenly there was with the Angel a

multitude of the Heavenly Hosts praising God and saying: Glory to God in the Highest, and on earth, Peace, Goodwill towards men!”

So it was, when the Angels had gone away

from them into Heaven, that the Shepherds said to one another: “Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this Thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us.”

And they went with haste and found

Mary and Joseph, and the Infant lying in a manger.

Now when they had seen Him, they made

widely known the saying that was told them concerning this Child, and all those who heard it marvelled at those things that were told them by the Shepherds.

But Mary kept all those Things and

pondered them in her heart.

Then the Shepherds returned, glorifying

and praising God for all the Things that they had heard and seen, as it was told them.

Again the Lord spoke to Ahaz, saying:

“Ask a Sign for yourself from the Lord your God either in the depth or in the height above.”

But Ahaz said: “I will not ask, nor will I

tempt the Lord.”

Then Isaiah said: “Hear now, O House of

David, is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will you weary the Lord also?

“Therefore, the Lord Himself will give you a Sign: behold, the Virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and you shall call His Name Immanuel.

“Butter and honey He shall eat before he knows to prefer evil or choose the good, for before the Child knows good or evil, He refuses the evil to choose the good; and the land you fear because of the presence of the two kings will be abandoned....”

And the Lord said to me: “Take for

yourself a large new book, and write on it with a man’s pen concerning making a swift plunder of spoils, for it is near at hand. And make witnesses for Me of Faithful men: Uriah and Zechariah, the son of Berechiah.”

Then I went to the Prophetess, and she

conceived and bore a son. And the Lord said to me: “Call his name “Quickly Despoil, Swiftly Plunder,” for before the child shall know how to call for his father and mother, one shall take the power of Damascus and the spoils of Samaria in the presence of the king of Assyria...”

“...And take away from Judah every

Thy Land, O God with us.

“Know this, O Gentiles, and be defeated.

Listen, all you - to the very ends of the earth: Be defeated although you are strong, for even if you should be strong again, you will be defeated again. And whatever counsel you take, the Lord will scatter it abroad;

O God, grant Thy Judgements to the King

and Thy Righteousness to the King’s Son, so that He may Judge Thy people in Righeousness and Thy poor with Judgement.

Let the mountains raise up Peace for Thy

people and the hills in Righteousness.

He shall Judge the poor of the people,

and shall serve the sons of the poor.

He shall humble the false accuser, and He

shall continue as long as the sun and before the moon from generation to generation.

And He shall come down like rain upon

the fleece, like raindrops falling on the earth.

In His days, Righteousness and

abundance of Peace shall flourish, until the moon is removed.

And He shall rule from sea to sea, and

from the river to the ends of the inhabited earth.

The Ethiopians shall bow down before

Him and His enemies shall lick the dust.

The kings of Tarshish and their islands

will come bearing gifts.

The kings of Arabia and Sava will bring

presents and all the kings of the earth shall Worship Him; all the Gentiles shall serve Him.

For He rescued the poor from the hand of

a strong man, and the needy, for whom there was no helper.

He shall spare the poor and needy and He

shall Save the souls of the needy.

He shall Redeem their souls from usury

and injustice, and precious shall be their name in His Sight.

He shall live, and there shall be given

Him from the gold of Arabia.

They shall pray continually because of

Him; all the day long shall they Bless Him.
