EARTH HOUR & EARTH DAY 2012

Mary Ann Bliss from Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) needed assistance with implementing a communication and event plan for global Earth Hour and Earth Day activities in 2012 at Motorola Mobility.

EHS did not have a dedicated ECOM representative so since I would already be providing TV messages and communicating local activities anyway, I took on the challenge to assist with supporting the full global program. Copy and design for all communications were fi nalized by me.

For Earth Hour, we did a very simple news story on the portal, posted it on DISCUSS@MMI, Mot TV and the Inside Motorola blog.

For Earth Day, we had a much larger objective. Mary Ann assembled a global team to brainstorm on ideas for events and activities. After participating in her fi rst global call with the full team, I met with her one-on-one to help simplify the plan and set more realistic goals.

We fi rst went through the portal page from the prior year and identifi ed what we would keep, change or remove. The page would be the main hub for employees to reference for details and more information regarding each of the events and activities.

I then took lead and edited the copy for her Power Point decks so that the global teams could easily translate them into their local language. I also swapped out clip art with product or stock imagery and updated the look and feel on all of her materials to better align with Motorola Mobility brand standards.

I also updated their postcard (shown below) that would be used for raffl es around the world, provided Motorola TV templates both in Symon and in Power Point for sites not on Symon and created custom email templates for all regions to create their own invitations for their local events (shown on later pages). The Power Point decks can be viewed separately. The portal page is no longer availble for viewing but there are a few screen shots from a few of the sections ahead.
