It expresses the richness and ripeness of the 2012 vintage. The wine is opulent, rich and balanced. This is what happens when a great site meets a great year. A long growing season, with no heat spikes and no rain, allowed us to achieve ideal ripeness while retaining the structure our mountain site always displays. The nose is dominated by black fruits, warm crushed rock, with a hint of root beer. The palate is pure cassis and blackberry fruit married with vanilla and cocoa. Rich, intense, and mouth coating, this wine is the ultimate expression of this site. This wine reminds me of the great Bordeaux wines of the 1990 vintage. More than 1982, 1990 is, for me, the reference point in Bordeaux. The 2012 Flanagan Serenity Way can stand proudly with the great site driven wines from around the world.
