    Dave Turgeon was announced as the manager of the 2012 State College Spikes on December 1,2011.

    Turgeon was slated to manage the 2011 Spikes, but was reassigned to another posion within thePisburgh Pirates Player Development System prior to the start of the 2011 season.

    The 47-year old was hired by Pisburgh in December 2010 and managed during Pirates extendedspring training in Bradenton, FL before joining the Class-A West Virginia Power in mid-June to

    serve as pitching coach.

    Turgeon made his return to professional baseball in 2011 aer having spent eight years in the col-lege ranks, including four years as associate head coach and pitching coach at Virginia Tech from2007-10. He also held NCAA assistant coaching posions at Duke University (2006), the Universityof Conneccut (2004-05) and Boston College (2002-03).

    Turgeon is no stranger to managing in the professional ranks. From 2000 to 02 he worked as a mi-nor league eld boss in the Cleveland Indians system, managing the Burlington (NC) Indians in therookie-level Appalachian League in 2000 and the Mahoning Valley Scrappers of the New York-PennLeague in 2001. In 2002, he managed at the Indians extended spring training program in Winter

    Haven, FL, and was set to return to Mahoning Valley for a second season before accepng a coach-ing posion at Boston College. In two seasons as a manager in the Indians system, Turgeons teamsposted a 47-95 record (.331).

    As a player, Turgeon enjoyed a standout career at Davidson College in North Carolina, where hegraduated with a bachelors degree in history in 1987. He was a three-me All-Southern Confer-ence selecon at third base for the Wildcats and earned all-region honors his senior year.

    Dave began his professional playing career aer being selected by the New York Yankees in the22nd round of the 1987 First-Year Player Dra. He spent four seasons in the New York farm system,where he played for both Stump Merrill and Buck Showalter.

    From 1991 to 99, Turgeon played mostly outside of the U.S. with clubs in Holland (1991), France(1992), Taiwan (1993-96, 1998) and Mexico (1997-99). In 1992, he converted from an inelder topitcher and spent the remainder of his career on the mound. He was a three-me All-Star selec-on in Taiwan and also captured 1998 Player-of-the-Year honors while playing with the ReynosaBroncos in the Mexican League. During the 1998 season, he returned to the United States andpitched for the Rochester Red Wings (Orioles AAA).

    Dave is one of four in his family to have played professional baseball. His brother, Mike, was aminor league Player-of-the-Year and bang champion with the Chicago Cubs and San FranciscoGiants organizaons, and his other brother, Steve, played in the St. Louis Cardinals system. His

    nephew, Erik, spent the last three seasons as a pitcher in the New York Mets system.

    Born May 15, 1965 in New London, CT, Dave grew up in Conneccut and graduated from St.Bernard High School in Uncasville. He was inducted into the St. Bernard Hall-of-Fame in 2006, oneyear aer being inducted into Davidson Colleges Athlec Hall-of-Fame.

    He and his wife, Theresa, currently reside in Sarasota, FL. The couple has four children; daughtersCalli (28), Alissa (25) and Francesca (10) and son Chrisan (21).

    Jusn Meccage (pronounced like the word message) returns for his second season as the StateCollege Spikes pitching coach in 2012.

    Jusn is also in his second season as a coach at the professional level, having previously heldpitching coach posions at Arkansas State University (2007-10) and the University of Texas-PanAmerican (2004-07). In his most recent collegiate stop at ASU, he was named the 2010 Sun BeltConference Assistant Coach-of-the-Year by SEBaseball.com.

    A nave of Billings, Montana, Jusn is a graduate of Oklahoma State University, where he pitchedfor the Cowboys for two seasons from 2001-02.

    As a professional, Jusn pitched two seasons in the New York Yankees minor league system aerbeing draed by New York in the 32nd round of the 2002 First-Year Player Dra. He debuted asa professional with the New York-Penn Leagues Staten Island Yankees in 2002 and 03, and alsospent part of the 2003 season pitching with Cook County in the independent Froner League.

    Jusn comes from a strong baseball coaching family. His late father, Bob, was an assistant coach atTrinity College in Texas, and his older brother Jeremy is currently an assistant coach at PrincetonUniversity. Jeremy pitched collegiately at the University of Iowa, and was draed by the Los Ange-les Dodgers in 1998.

    Born February 10, 1980 in Billings, MT, Jusn currently resides in Sarasota, FL with his wife Staceeand sons Kyler (4) and Hudson (8/17/10).

    Dave Howard was named Spikes hing coach on December 1, 2011.

    The 54-year old Howard is in his fourth season as a coach in the Pisburgh Pirates Player Develop-ment System, having made previous stops at the Advanced Class-A level with Lynchburg (2009)and Bradenton (2010) and at the Low Class-A level with West Virginia (2011).

    Prior to joining Pisburgh in 2009, Howard served as a minor league manager and coach in theTampa Bay and New York Yankees organizaons. With the Rays, he managed for six seasons, in-cluding ve as the skipper of the New York-Penn Leagues Hudson Valley Renegades from 2001-05.

    He also managed the rookie-level Princeton Rays to a rst-place nish in the Appalachian Leaguein 1998. His career managerial record is 210-229 (.478).

    Howard has also coached at the college and prep levels. From 1981-86, he coached at his almamater Georgia Southern University, and from 1987-94 was hing coach and third base coach atthe University of Florida. He was also head coach at Tampa Prep School in Tampa, FL from 1999-2000.

    A graduate of Georgia Southern, Howard earned both his bachelors and masters degree fromthe school. He currently resides in Lutz, FL with his wife, Sherri, and daughters Samantha (21) andGracie Mae (9).

    Ausn McClune, a former Pirates minor league player and member of the State College Spikes2007 team, enters his second season as a coach with the Spikes.

    McClune was an ouielder over his ve seasons in the Pirates organizaon from 2006-2010. Lastseason, he played at the Advanced Class-A level with the Bradenton Marauders in the Florida StateLeague and hit .222 with one home run, 30 RBI and nine stolen bases in 99 games.

    He spent the 2008 and 09 seasons playing in the South Atlanc League for Pirate aliates Hickoryand West Virginia.

    In 2007, his second season in the Pirates minor league system, McClune played in 59 games for theSpikes, posng a .260 bang average and 15 stolen bases.

    Ausn was draed by Pisburgh in the seventh round of the 2006 June Dra out of Santa Fe HighSchool in Edmond, Oklahoma. In addion to a standout baseball career, he also starred in footballand led the Wolves to a 10-0 record during his senior season.
