a word fromGerd-Walter BuskiesceF european Director

“No, but I will surely buy it from you for a price; nor will I offer burnt offerings to the LORD my God with that which costs me nothing.” 2 Samuel 24:24

David had a choice to make! He could offer a sacrifice with gifts that he received or he himself could pay for the sacrifice. When he considered that it was for the Lord, he knew that he would have to pay the price. He could not possibly offer to God that which cost him nothing.

Day by day we too are faced with a similar situation. Will we give to God that which costs us nothing? When we pray, does He get a few minutes from a place and position that we would have been in anyway? When we give, do we hardly miss the money that we have given? When we take the Gospel do

we go to places where we know we will be accepted and will meet with very little resistance? Do we choose the easy option?

Or do we follow David’s example and say I can’t possibly offer God that which costs me nothing?

Our vision is “every child, every nation, every day” and it carries a cost: time, effort, energy, resources and maybe much more. But we are determined not to give to God that which costs us nothing.

The vision to take the Gospel to “every child, every nation, every day” changes our prayer life, changes the way we use our resources, changes the way we view every child we meet. We believe this vision is from God... so that every child has the opportunity to hear the Gospel message.

… from childhood you have

known the Holy Scriptures, which are

able to make you wise for salvation

through faith which is in Christ Jesus

(2 Tim 3:15).

What an encouragement…

… to lay the foundations for

spiritual life early in childhood!

Timothy’s mother did not wait until

her son was 10 or 12 years of age.

She knew that you cannot begin to

lay the foundation of a house when

the first floor is already finished.

Research shows that the spiritual

identity of a person is largely set

in place by the age of 13*. We can

hardly start too early to acquaint

children with the truth of the

Gospel.

… to teach the Bible to children.

We are sometimes under attack

because we make the Holy

Scriptures the main content in all

our ministries. However is there any

other book, which is able to make a

child wise for salvation? The Bible is!

Thank you for praying for us,

thank you for helping us as we lay

the foundation of God’s Word in

Twenty years ago, shortly after the fall of communism, Roy Harrison (European Director at that time) and Ülle Käärik (Baltic Countries Coordinator) taught the first TCE training course in Lithuania. This summer the dream of the first ever CMLC in the country became a reality. Eighteen students (7 Lithuanians, 7 Estonians and 4 Latvians) attended the first six weeks and will return next year to complete the course.

italy comes to kilchzimmerAfter much prayer, planning,

promotion and preparation, eight expectant students arrived from Italy to join the English class for the first six weeks of our summer CMLC. Classes were mostly taught in English and interpreted into Italian. carlotta shared, “I had always taken the salvation of children for granted, until Henry Berry said, ‘Children are nice, but we should never forget that they are sinners and going to hell if they do not have Jesus.’ God has given me a love for the preschool child and I look forward to

teaching this group in Sunday school and to putting into practice what I have learned here.” riccardo has been helping with his church’s youth group as well as the preschool Sunday school class.

“Now I see the importance of reaching children at even younger ages.” Sandra said, “This was the first time I ever experienced this type of training. When

I go home, the children are waiting for me. I believe that God wants to use me in this ministry and I have said yes to Him. I want to make the churches in my area aware of the importance of reaching the children. We have been neglecting them!” All of these students plan to return in 2013 to finish the course.

We cannot fulfil the vision on our own. We want to invest in training others to take the Gospel to children, equip them by putting quality literature into their hands and provide support in such a way as they continue to spread the Gospel as long as they are able.

The vision is great, but God is greater. He is the One who gives the vision and enables us to reach the goal. Will you join us in this great task of evangelising every child, every nation, every day?

praying:Prayer makes a

difference. When we pray, God works. In a spiritual ministry, we don’t want to attempt to put our efforts and resources

into something that is not blessed of

God. Contact us for up to date prayer requests.

Giving:Child Evangelism

Fellowship® of Europe has been offered an amazing matching gift opportunity. Since our vision is not for just one

child, or one new worker, or one more training course. The vision is for every child. Any gifts given for training or equipping or supporting by 31 December 2012, will be eligible for a matching gift. That means all gifts given for this purpose will be doubled! A big vision needs many resources. This matching gift will give us the amazing opportunity to reach this goal.

Will you give for the children of Europe? Will you give so that

literally thousands more children can hear the gospel? For more information about the matching gift opportunity for training, equipping and supporting in Europe, please contact the European Director at email: [email protected].

Going:CEF offers

training for those who want to be better equipped to evangelise children. Please contact our European Headquarters

for more details about the Children’s Ministry Leadership Course.

Every day we have many opportuni-ties for service. May one thing be true for each one of us – that we would be a people who are not willing to offer to God that which costs us nothing!

ukraineLast March Sándor, the Director of

the Bereg Camp Centre in the Ukraine, together with two colleagues picked up the newly printed Bible Corespondence Course lessons from the Romanian CEF office – about two tons of material! It was already late night when they arrived at the border on their way back to Beregszász, Transcarpathia (Ukraine).

The customs officers were not happy to see the overloaded car. ‘Do you really think we will allow you to cross the border with this amount of material?!’ No, they didn’t!

“What shall we do?” Sándor was wondering. They were in no man’s land between the Ukrainian and Romanian borders. As Ukrainian citizens, due to visa regulations they could not return to Romania, but they also could not continue into the Ukraine. They prayed to God for a miracle.

And God answered their prayer. He moved the heart of one of the officers. The man stopped some of the cars that were on their way to the Ukraine for cheaper fuel and asked each driver to carry two or three boxes of literature across the border. The two friends of Sándor, Ibolya and György, went across the border and collected the boxes from the unknown drivers at the roadside. Altogether 12 cars took part in this action. That way all the literature got safely into the Ukraine!

God works miracles to help children to learn the truth about Jesus Christ!

romania“Is it true that Jesus really loves

me?”, 9 year old Timothy asked during the Bible lesson. He was one of 3,800 children, which were reached through Good News across Romania (GNAR) this summer in county Bihor, West Romania. GNAR is an evangelistic campaign CEF Romania holds every summer in a local area for one week. This year CEF workers together with volunteers from local churches evangelised children in 79 locations in 5 Day Clubs. After the campaign, the

local churches maintain the contact with the children through Good News Clubs and Sunday School.

Iulian Mangalagiu, the CEF leader in Romania says: “It is a wonderful opportunity to work together with local churches and encourage them to continue to reach children who might not otherwise have heard the Gospel.”

By God’s grace, 199 children told the CEF team that they became part of God’s family, when they turned to Him for forgiveness.

Two more voices from this week. When Nathan (4 years of age) was asked, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” he replied, “A child of God!”

“The vision of CEF has become our vision … we want to reach every child in our county.”

Renata – volunteer in county Bihor

north West europe“We received the big picture of CEF

in many ways. It was great to listen to the reports from the other countries and get to know the Nordic workers.” “God spoke mightily through the Bible messages!” – these were some comments from participants of the first CEF Area Conference that was held in Tallinn, Estonia, May 21-25 for 55 workers and volunteers from seven Nordic countries.

“How good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! … for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life for evermore” (Psalm 133).

Our objective for 2017 is to reach

89,000 children that year in North West Europe through the teaching ministries – an increase of 66 percent over 2011. Please pray that the Lord will guide and provide for this to happen.

portugalAlthough Madeira, a beautiful

Portuguese island in the North Atlantic Ocean, already received the Gospel in the 19th Century, it is now a place with only a small percentage of believers.

Reason enough for Oséas and Iolanda Melo, the leaders of CEF Portugal, to again choose Madeira for their annual missionary outreach this

summer, which they call Juventude Missionária Envolvida (JME, Young People involved in Mission).

Aline, Sarah and Israel are three young people who participated in JME together with the CEF workers. The team spent one week on the island doing Open Air Evangelism, Holiday Bible Clubs, a mini-camp, a seminary for parents, a special service in a local church and distribution of Meet the King! booklets.

For CEF it was the 7th time that they did JME on Madeira. And for many children these days are the only opportunity to hear the Gospel and read the Bible. 100 kids and teenagers were reached. Five adults and eight children accepted Jesus as their Saviour. And the three young people in the CEF team now plan to come to the CMLC course next year! Praise God!

The summer leadership course with 20 students and 16 children of all ages presented us with major challenges. Thanks be to God for our many volunteers, who He sent to us for a few weeks or even months during the summer course:

interpreters The following people helped with the

interpretation of the classes into Italian: Heidi Chamberlin, Antonella Hauser, Giorgio Meregaglia, Stefania Muggianu, Alice O’Keefe, Lisabeth Stäheli.

childminders The children and young teens

were cared for by: Donna Alexander, Christine Bomke, Anneke Breet, Kezia Fryxelius, Carla Fiori Guidi, Aline Hak, Rebekka Hermann, Esther Leppertinger, Charlene Malseed, Laura Martin, Chris McCune, Erna Petker, Hans & Nel Van der Ven, Amy Webb.

house and Garden In the kitchen, house & garden the

following people helped us: Raphael Dürrenberger, Stephen Harrison, Neil Harkness, Joanne Hazendonk, Nathalie Meynadier, Marianne Siegersma, Lina Töws, Ruth Wendekamm.

Grateful thanks to all of them!

Departure and Welcome Ilja Hartig from Germany was

the last young person to do their “Alternative service abroad” with us. All over the site, he has left behind visible and lasting blessings. Grateful thanks to him for his service here and God’s blessings for the training he has already begun and his future.

We did not know how we would survive without such a young person. However God opened new doors and has sent us a trainee Oliver Brunner (Switzerland). He will help us for a year in the house and garden as part of his professional training. A warm welcome to him.

Jubilee proJect upDateOn the occasion of the 40th

anniversary celebrations for our European Headquarters we recommended three projects to you. So far we have received gifts for these projects of 12,245 Swiss Francs altogether. Many thanks!

Small bus The biggest share of the total came

in for the small bus. Until the middle of August the bus was still giving us good service. However now we have to

keep it off the road as the petrol tank is completely rusted through. For the bus to get through the test that has to be done every two years, we have to do further repairs, which would be very expensive according to the garage.

Therefore we must search very urgently for a good and economical bus to use (with at least 8 seats and four wheel drive). We would be thankful for your help, whether with advice or further gifts.

heatingThe project “Repair of the heating”

is completely covered. The preliminary

investigations have been done and completion will hopefully follow shortly.

SwitchboardWe do not have enough money yet

for a new switchboard. However the installation of a radio telephone with a repeater is already a huge help and relief, as you can be reached with this apparatus throughout the whole house.
