St. Paul Summer Camp Rates

Weekly Rate: $1859:00-3:30

Daily Rate: $459:00-3:30

1/2 Day Rate: $229:00-12:00 or 12:00-3:30

CIT (Counselor-in-Training) program: $125 weekly

StaffEdward "Eddie" A. NewtonCoach Newton, M.Ed., in his 14th year at St. Paul, is our Summer Program Director. Coach Newton also serves as Athletic Director for the Academy.

Senior Camp StaffThe senior staff is comprised of qualified professionals and experienced college students trained in the philosophy and mission of the Summer Programs. They are certified in CPR and First Aid each year.

Junior Camp StaffThe junior staff is composed of high school students. They serve as auxiliary staff; they do not directly supervise campers and are always under the supervision of senior staff members.

St. Paul Summer CampWe specialize in working with younger campers. Each day campers play, create, explore, worship, relax, and share together. Each activity is geared to the age of the individual camper. The campers are grouped by age. This creates opportunities for peer bonding and for establishing positive role-modeling relationships.

PoolSwimming is off-site at a private, state-certified location used exclusively by St. Paul Summer Camp. A certified lifeguard is

present at all times.

Registration InformationRegister early to secure your choice of sessions. Space is limited. Camp fees are required one month in advance. Forms are due by

May 1, 2012. Late forms will be considered as space allows.

PLEASANT PIRATESCome board the S.S. St. Paul for a fun-

filled week of adventure including science experiments, pirate foods, telescopes, mapmaking,

and of course a little parrot talk!  We will enjoy the adventures of Peter Pan and Captain Hook and who knows...we may even find a message in a bottle! “FUN”DAMENTAL BASKETBALL SKILLSLearning, instruction, and fun are key ingredients for the long-term enjoyment of the sport. If you would like your son or daughter to experience basketball in a fun-filled, low-pressure environment, this is the camp for you. A large focus will be placed on fundamental basketball skills like footwork, scoring, ball-handling, and passing. Additionally, there will be opportunities for small-sided games that allow each player more opportunities to use new skills in a game-oriented environment. Healthy snacks will be provided daily. Rising kindergarten-third grade; June 4-7; 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.; Cost $160

FAIRY TALE FANTASY CAMPJoin kindergarten teacher Miss McGarry and first grade teacher Miss Carraway for a camp filled with tea parties, magic wands, fairy dust, and princess makeovers.  Sign up now for a sparkling, fun time!  Rising first-rising second grade girls; June 4-7; 8:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m.; Maximum of 20; Cost $160

SEW WHAT?Join Mrs. Shari Shephard and Miss Sarah McGarry who will teach you how to make a skirt to wear, a covered bulletin board for your room, and other fun projects! Join us for sewing fun! ST. PAUL BASKETBALL CAMPLed by husband and wife coaching duo Dan and Jenny Oliver, this camp will serve as an excellent primer to St. Paul Basketball. Fundamental basketball skills like footwork, scoring, ball-handling, and passing will be covered daily. Additionally, we will introduce individual and team defense concepts, offensive strategy, and of course…play games! If your son or daughter plans to play for St. Paul in the future or if he or she is are interested in learning more about the game, this camp will help. Healthy snacks will be provided daily.Rising fourth-sixth grade; June 4-7; 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.; Cost $160

COOKING UP FUN!Cook up some fun with Mrs. Janie Brown and Mrs. Amy Nickels. There will be a different cooking experience each day, and we will even create unique aprons and chef hats. There will be a surprise field trip to one of Nashville's favorite breakfast spots on our last day of camp! ART AND MUSIC EXTRAVAGANZACome join art teacher Holly Madrigal and music teacher Carol Dickerson for a week of creativity and rock and roll, blues, and jazz. We will be getting messy while we stimulate and develop the right side of our brains.   Kindergarten-rising second grade; June 11-14; 8:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. or 12:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m.; Maximum of 20; Cost $135

GYMNASTICS CAMP (Strength & Flexibility Training)You will FLIP for this camp. This camp is not just for those who want to learn more about gymnastics but also for those who want to increase their strength and range-of-motion for other sports. Gymnastics is a foundational sport for ALL sports!  Camp will include 2 gymnastics classes each day! In the morning class children will learn the basics of gymnastics including warm-up and stretching. After that children will go through a strength and condition routine working every area of the body (upper body, core, and lower body). Then the second class each day will be designed for just learning the back handspring! (Great for Cheerleaders!)  Junior kindergarten-rising seventh grade; June 11-15 or July 16-20; 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.; Limited space available; Cost $160

FOOTBALL SPECIALTY CAMP (Backs, Receivers, Linemen, and QBs)Come spend a week with Coach John Garrett and Coach Pete Lutz to learn specific fundamental skills for all of the skill positions on the football field. Coach Garrett will focus on catching, defending, and quarterback skills. Coach Lutz will focus on line skills, including proper footwork, snapping, and blocking skills. You will spend the week getting more comfortable with the basic skills needed to play each of those positions. Spend a fun-filled week learning all the fundamentals skills needed to be successful on the football field. Rising fifth-sixth grade; June 11-15; 3:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.; Cost $160

BASEBALL AND BASKETBALL MECHANICSJoin former professional baseball player and Ohio State basketball player Ray Apple for a fun-filled week of baseball and basketball basics. Learn the fundamentals of each game. A portion of each day will be focused on developing basic baseball skills including catching, batting, throwing, and body positioning. Each day will also include basic basketball skills including dribbling, passing, and shooting. RUNNING CAMPIntroduce your child to the fun and long-term health benefits of running. They are never too young to start learning the fundamentals of running, the advantages of good fitness, and the importance of putting the right fuel in their bodies. Each day your child will learn the correct way to stretch and will enjoy the company of other kids while we talk about good health choices and have a great time running. Led by Coach Beth Gillem. NASHVILLE IDOL Join The Music Staff Studio for a fun, exciting, and educational camp! Nashville Idol is open to all rising fifth and sixth grade students who enjoy singing and want to build stage presence and performing skills. We will work on age-appropriate and positive songs individually and collectively. Come share your talents, build self-esteem, and have a blast. CAMPING…UNPLUGGEDCome spend a week with science teacher Mrs. Haddock and music teacher Mrs. Dickerson to discover all the fun things you can do when you leave your video games and iPods at home. We will enjoy games and activities from days gone by such as Rock School, Hopscotch, Sling Shots, Water Balloons, Painted Rocks, Playing the Spoons, Singing Games, Mud Pies, and Flashlight Tag. Our campsite will be set-up with tents and a campfire so we can roast our pig!  And don't forget-I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream For Yummy Homemade Ice Cream!!  See You There!! MUSIC FUN! MusicFun! is an early childhood program for caregiver and child that explores music, movement, and literature. Students explore rhythm and movement through great stories. Students are encouraged to sing old favorites and new melodies while discovering body awareness. Each child is given his or her own hand instrument, music booklet, and CD. Come, join us, and create special memories for you and your child. Ages 4 and 5 with caregiver, June 25-29; 9:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m.; Minimum of 6, Maximum of 12; Cost $70

FLOWER POWER ART CAMPCome get messy and creative with Mrs. Lou Alice Rogers. Campers will enjoy several different art projects using our favorite kind of gun-a glue gun. We will use all the tools-hot glue, sewing machines, paint, ribbon, and glitter. Campers will take home a cache of art projects at the end of the week. Rising third-seventh grades; July 2,3,5,6; 1:00-4:00 10 camper minimum; Maximum of 20; Cost $160

ART/FASHION CAMPIs your daughter feeling creative? Come enjoy time with Mrs. Lou Alice Rogers and special guests for a camp devoted to beauty, fashion, and art. We will sketch, design, and create masterpieces. Campers will study fashion and body care and do projects to learn fun tidbits about both. Campers will come away with many handmade goodies and great information. Fourth-seventh grade; July 2,3,5,6; 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.; Minimum of 10, Maximum of 20; Cost $160

ART COMES TO LIFE!Don’t save the drama for your mama! Join art teacher Holly Madrigal and first grade teacher KC Carraway for four days of drama and creativity. We will be bringing stories to life using small props as we make fun extras like masks and puppets! Rising kindergarten-second grade; July 9-12; 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.; Cost $135

WRITERS/ILLUSTRATORS CAMPIs there an author inside of your child waiting to be awakened? In this unique camp experience children’s book author Jennifer Trafton and St. Paul librarian Lou Alice Rogers will teach important elements of story writing. Through imaginative games and creative writing exercises, campers will learn that stories are everywhere around them—in the most fantastical reaches of their imagination, in the people they meet, and in the everyday experiences of their own lives. BEGINNING GUITARCome join The Music Staff Studio Performing Arts Academy for a two week camp and learn guitar basics—strumming, chords, notes on the guitar, and more! Learn how to read chord chards, TAB, and lots of fun songs. No prior experience needed and guitars are provided during the camp. Rising fourth-sixth grade; July 16-20 & July 23-27; 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m.; Minimum of 7, Maximum of 15; Cost $175

THE GREAT OUTDOORSCome join fourth grade teacher and coach Drew Clausing on an excursion through Percy Warner State Park. Each day we’ll hike a different trail that culminates in a fun team or individual activity. We’ll also go fishing, hunt for crawdads, and swim in the creek. CHESS CAMPJoin Nashville Chess Center Coaches Tiffany Elliott and Todd Andrews (also the Academy’s chess coach) for a fun-filled and highly educational experience where kids can learn their first moves or become even more accomplished tournament players. Campers will be grouped according to experience level and each day will include lessons and several different activities planned on a structured schedule. PRIVATE PIANO, VOICE, GUITAR, AND VIOLIN LESSONS!You can take private music lessons at SPCA this summer! Lessons are offered through The Music Staff Studio Performing Arts Academy, Monday-Friday. Students will learn musicianship and instrument performance. Lessons will also include direction in ear training, theory, music history and sight-reading. All students are encourage to participate in our fun and exciting recitals and shows.All ages and levels welcome. Summer Programs Liability Release

I hereby fully release and discharge St. Paul Christian Academy and its officers and agents and employees from any and all liability, actions, causes of actions, debts, claims, damages or loss which I may have or which accrue to me on account of my child's (ward's) participation in the Summer Programs. I further agree to indemnify and hold harmless St. Paul Christian Academy and its officers and agents and employees from any and all claims and expenses resulting from any injuries, damages, or losses sustained by me and arising in any way from my child's (ward's), or my own participation in said program.

I also agree that if I cancel my child's participation in the said program and do not give at least two weeks notice, I will be responsible for the entire weekly fee and any additional camp fees for which I registered. If cancellation notice is given at least two weeks prior to the registered camp dates, 50% of the weekly fee will still be charged, and I will be responsible for the said charges.
