The Wells Fargo logo appears in Wells Fargo red and Wells Fargo yellow. Use the black 1-color version only for one- or two-color (black plus one color) applications such as newspaper advertising or forms.

Print logo colors

Our logo colors must appear exactly the same every time they are used. On printed materials, Wells Fargo logo colors — Wells Fargo Red and Wells Fargo Yellow — must always match their CMYK formula respectively, whether printing on coated or uncoated stock. Never substitute other colors. This is especially important since certain paper stocks and different types of media may alter the way a color looks when reproduced. For this reason, a color check while the job is on press or in final production is essential. Drawdowns are strongly recommended in all cases. For print jobs requiring spot color pages, special spot ink formulas are provided from the Brand Management Team at [email protected].

Clearspace and size

Clearspace frames the logo, separating it from other elements such as headlines, text, imagery, and the outside edge of printed materials.

Always leave the minimum amount of clearspace around the logo to maximize impact. In print, the preferred clearspace is half the height or width of the logo on each side. The absolute minimum clearspace requirement is a quarter of the height or width of the logo on each side. Online, the logo clearspace requirement is at least 10 pixels.

DRAWING INTENSIVERyan Finnerty & Jethaniel Peterka

Take your drawing skills to the next level in this seriously focused drawing intensive. Over the course of two weeks, you study with creative, profes-sional instructors who guide you through demonstrations and discussions on drawing techniques, draftsmanship and observation. Learn the basics of charcoal and graphite while fi guring out how to approach still life and the fi gure through sight, line, shape and shadow. As part of your academic exploration, you also take a fi eld trip to one of Seattle’s high-profi le galleries or museums.

Jethaniel Peterka focuses on the fi gure, using live models, photographs and the works of the old masters and contemporary fi gurative artists alike. You learn traditional drawing skills such as gesture, blocking-in, modeling with light and shadow, anatomy, composition and more.

Ryan Finnerty focuses on the expressive aspect of drawing, while you learn about value, color, scale and analytical observation. You learn to work with new materials and to draw quickly and confi dently.

This is a great step if you are hoping to build a portfolio, prepare for the fi ve-week Portfolio Intensive program or is even a great refresher course if you have already taken the Portfolio Intensive.

WEEKS 1 & 2 (ages 14-17)

July 2 – 13 [9 days, no class on July 4]

I loved the teachers’ energy and excitement for teaching us. This class has helped me learn to draw. Before it, I didn’t know anything. From this I learned to draw with great skill in two weeks. — Michelle, 15 (Drawing Intensive)

TWO WEEKS! WEEKS 3 & 4 (ages 14-17)

July 16 – 27

PAINTING INTENSIVERyan Finnerty & Jethaniel Peterka

This is the perfect follow-up to the Drawing Intensive! In this highly focused painting program, you learn the fundamental skills of painting. In addition to the materials and techniques of oil painting, you learn to work with painting’s key elements: light, space and color; dealing with sighting, color mixing and paint handling through a variety of approaches to observational painting. Coursework features lots of hard work, instructor demonstrations and one-on-one learning. As part of your academic exploration, you also take a fi eld trip to one of Seattle’s high-profi le galleries or museums.

Jethaniel Peterka introduces you to the traditional “indirect” painting process, carefully layering opaque paint and transparent glazes in stages. You learn the entire process of making an oil painting from preparing your surface, transferring your drawing, under painting, form painting, glazing and fi nally to varnishing your masterpiece.

Ryan Finnerty instructs you on painting’s more expressive aspects by teaching you the skills behind “alla prima,” or direct “wet on wet,” painting from observation. You learn to work with close attention to brush strokes, tone and color. Using a wide range of inspirational subject matter, you continue to hone your drawing skills and quick gestures while learning how to mix paint for tone, hue, shade and tint.

This is a great step if you are hoping to build a portfolio, prepare for the fi ve-week Portfolio Intensive program or is even a great refresher course if you have already taken the Portfolio Intensive.

We strongly recommend that you have taken the Drawing Intensive or other drawing classes before enrolling in the Painting Intensive.

CLASSICAL STUDIOTenaya Sims

Develop a strong foundation in the classical tradition of 19th-century artists. Tenaya Sims teaches you to understand, develop and imple-ment the skills needed for representational drawing. Work from the fi gure in the morn-ings and from plaster casts in your own work space in the afternoons. The fi rst week begins with a short lecture and slide presentation by Sims, demonstrating his body of work, inspira-tion and artistic background. Then you focus on the foundation skills of blocking-in the fi gure and rendering form. The second week you learn the process of working on hand-toned paper while applying the principles learned in the fi rst week. Sims’s direct teaching style is rigorous and engaging. You need to be serious about wanting to develop representational drawing and paint-ing skills to benefi t from this session.

WeeKs 3 & 4 July 16 – 27

CONTEMPORARY STUDIOKimberly Trowbridge

Move from drawing into painting by learning to see and mix color relationships from observa-tion under the guidance of Kimberly Trowbridge. Trowbridge begins with a short presentation, demonstrating her body of work, inspiration and artistic background. Using a direct paint-ing method, you focus on understanding color as value, temperature and saturation. You work from the model in the mornings, painting the relationship of the fi gure to the surrounding space. You devote your afternoons to working from individual still-life installations, focusing on color, composition, space, narrative and identity. Using representation and abstraction as a way to explore individual themes, you create one large, fi nal painting. Prepare to apply your technical skills in an individual direction as you create your own unique artworks.

Read more about Sims and Trowbridge online!

WeeK 5 July 30 – August 3

STUDIO WEEK

In the culminating week of the Portfolio Intensive, you devote your time to fi nishing your projects and holding individual critiques with Sims and Trow-bridge. After the critiques, your instructors host two visiting artists and take you on a fi eld trip to explore and examine a contemporary exhibition in one of Seattle’s own unique arts institutions.
