PURPOSEThe Norman Vincent Peale Award for Positive Thinking Annual Gala benefits

the Blanton-Peale Institute and Counseling Center, a non-sectarian, non-denominationalorganization founded in 1937 by the internationally renowned pastor and author, theRev. Dr. Norman Vincent Peale, (“The Power of Positive Thinking”) and psychiatristSmiley Blanton, M.D. Blanton-Peale brings together the insights of the ever-evolvingfields of psychotherapy and of the great spiritual traditions to help men and women, families, clergy, and caregivers manage the psychological, emotional, and spiritual issues of everyday life.

The Institute provides post-graduate education and clinical training in conjunction with the Counseling Center, where students earn their clinical hours, andwhich offers mental health services at Blanton-Peale’s headquarters in Manhattan. Eachyear we touch the lives of those in need of assistance with over 25,000 visits.

Integrating our solid grounding in psychological theory and wisdom from the interfaith traditions, Blanton-Peale offers programs in psychoanalytic training, pastoral care and counseling (in English and Korean).

Blanton-Peale is a strategic partner with New York Theological Seminary, through which our students may earn a Master of Arts or Master of Divinity in PastoralCare and Counseling or a Doctor of Ministry degree in psychoanalysis and pastoralcare. The Institute and the Seminary are also collaborating to offer future joint programsin marriage and family therapy.

Proceeds from the Gala provide financial support for students-in-training, particularly to those from underrepresented cultures, subsidized counseling fees forthose in need, our new initiatives, and expanded enrichment courses.
