    Sponsoring a child through PCM

    by Kristen Wolowski

When we decided to sponsor a child through PCM, we thought itwould be one amazing way to honor God by following his commandmentsof taking care of orphans. We would be providing for a child in need. What we discovered is that sponsoring a child through Parental CareMinistries has brought us the true blessing. Sponsoring a child throughPCM is a two waystreet. When I thinkof our sponsor kids,I immediately feel

joy. Their smiles areall I can see. Thesekiddos are different. They have taughtme so much. I knowthat I am sponsoringchildren that trust andlove the Lord morethan I am capable ofcomprehending. Theyhave nothing, buteverything!! I thinkof them pouring outpraises honoring Jesusand wish I could bemore like them. I thinkof them trusting Jesusin ALL things, and Iwant to be more likethem. I see their joyshining and I want to

be more like them. You see, we provide physical needs to them and in somany ways they fill us with much needed spiritual needs. Knowing someof the situations they have faced, and the dedication they show to ourSavior, humbles me. I want to be more like them!! So, yes, obeying Godscommands to take care of orphans is a command, but the reward youreceive through sponsoring a child at PCM is the true gift!

Our family has sponsored Shallon for 4 years. We have written letters, sent packets, and even visited her numerous times in

Uganda. About 2 years ago, she asked me for a picture of our home. At the time, I didntunderstand the reason for her request, but I think I do now. Even if you know someonewell, once you see their home and meet their family, you know and understand themeven more. I think that was Shallons desire when she asked about our home. I didsend her a picture of the front of our house, but in April of this year, she got somethingmore than a picture a visit toour home! During Choir Tour#2, Shallon stayed severalnights at our home, met ourchildren (and our dog!), andlaughed and played andtalked with all of us. She metour neighbors and rocked our

kids. She rode scooters andate ice cream and becameeven more a part of ourfamily. We all loved everymoment of having her there.

Two months later, my 7 year old daughter, London, and I were on a planeto Uganda, and one thing was at the top of our to-do list: to visit Shallons home.Shallon attends PCMs secondary school at Katyazo, so I had seen her bed and thetrunk she keeps her belongings in before. But London and I wanted to see the homeshe goes to when she has a school holiday. Supermom knew of our desire and assuredus she would make it happen.

Shallons family is from the Sanga district and lives at the bottom of the beautifulhill where our PCM Sanga school is located. In fact, the PCM water well for theschool is about 25 feet from her home, which is a blessing to her family. As we weredriving to the Sanga school one day, Shallon exclaimed, Theres my father! Shewas pointing at a man standing under a shade tree in the middle of a large pasture, surrounded by cattle. He headed home and we kept driving, and soon he met us at ahumble one room hut near the pasture. London leaned close to me and asked, Whyis it so small? I still tear up thinking about that day and that moment that we saw our

Ugandan daughters home for the first time. But that day we also met Shallons father, mother, siblings, and cousins. We laughed and hugged and prayed and took pictures, and before we left, Shallons house felt like home to us too. We look forward to theday we will live and worship together as one family in our Heavenly home.

For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a buildingfrom God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. 2 Cor. 5:10

A Glimpse of Gods Sovereignty and Glory

    by Lydia McKee

When the Covenant Christian Academy team arrived at the Katyazo school, the highschool, on the third day of our trip, several girls warmly invited me inside their dormitory.

As I looked around, I saw that almost everybed was lacking a mosquito net. I asked myfriend Shallon why and she said, Only thosewho can afford them have them. It broke myheart because the previous day my team hadvisited a young girl with malaria, and I wasable to see the devastating effects. I felt thatthe Lord was prompting me to do whatever Icould to get mosquito nets for all of the kids.

This was the first time on our trip that I really

felt the Lord prompting me to not only thinkdifferently, but to do something about their circumstances. However, later that night, as wespoke to Supermom and Pastor Emmy about getting mosquito nets for all the children, theytold us that the police had banned mosquito nets because they said they were fire hazards. Iknew that God wanted this to happen, but it seemed like every door was being shut. I becamediscouraged and began to pray.

The next morning, I realized that a few members of our team had gone to a remote schoolcalled Rwemikoma. I really wanted to go, so I became upset that I couldnt see those preciouschildren. One of my leaders told me that Godhad a plan for me that day, and I needed to beopen to see what He had in store.

A few moments later, the President of Ugandawalked into the hotel. As soon as he saw us inthe lobby, he walked over and began talkingto us. He told us about His faith and thankedus for what we were doing for the people ofUganda. He then went upstairs to his suite. We were amazed that we talked with thePresident of Uganda. As we started to leavefor one of the schools, the Presidents securityguard came to tell us that the President wanted to see us in his suite. He said we could askhim anything. So, we asked about the legality of owning mosquito nets at a boarding school. The President said that mosquito nets were a necessity because of the high risk of malaria. Hetold his secretary to make a note to call the district police commander and tell him to allowmosquito nets for the kids at the Katyazo school!

I was amazed! I didnt have words to describe the greatness of God! God works in ways thatwe cant fathom. You see, if I had gone to the Rwemikoma school, the question about themosquito nets would never have been posed. But by Gods grace and mercy, every kid atKatyazo now has a mosquito net!

Our Kate Clinic has served the local communwell this year. From taking care of our own PCM children, teachers and staff as well as those livwe are making a big difference in the health of many of our Ugandan friends. typhoid are still the biggest challenges we face, but we are thankful for the abthe lives of these people for just a few dollars. This year we have seen blessingsmotorcycle and an improvement of our labor and delivery room. Our prayer iadd a small building behind the clinic for our staff to call home.

Te Power of Multiplicationby Pastor Rob ibbitts

This past August, I had the opportunity to travel with a team of six pastors who invested heavily into the lives of over 2,000 UgaTanzanian pastors who had traveled long distances for the pimproving their effectiveness as spiritual leaders in their individand villages. Many of these men of God have never been affoblessing of a theological education, and so they are extremely geach and every opportunity they are offered to grow in the Lord.
