Day CampINFOLake Mary Preparatory School is proud to offer a fun-filled summer day camp designed for children that are in grades Pre-k3 – 5th. Our day camp has nine weeks of engaging activities, games, guest speakers, and field trips that will captivate your child and all of their interests. Each week will have a different theme that will challenge your child to transform their summer into an awesome experience. In addition, the “week–to–week “camp plan allows you to select which weeks your child will attend camp; or for the ultimate camp experience, they can join us every week!Each group will have a team of qualified staff members that will create a fun and positive learning environment. We maintain a low counselor-to-child ratio to ensure the safety of our children. Our groups will focus on different aspects of sports, art, music and literature through professional educational techniques. Weekly fees will include all activities, field trips, 2 snacks and lunch. Camp shirts are required to be worn on all field trips. Each child will receive one summer camp shirt at registration; additional shirts can be purchase as needed. We look forward to having an awesome summer and invite you to sign up for our camp and discover what Lake Mary Preparatory School has to offer your child.

Group 1: Pre-K GriffinsPre-K 3 and Pre-K 4: Your child must be 3 years of age as of September 1, 2016 and

fully potty-trained.

Group 2: Primary GriffinsStudents that are classified as K -5th during the 2015- 2016 school year.

Camp Dates: June 6 – August 5, 2016 **Note: There will be no camp held on Monday, July 4th in observance of Independence Day

Camp Hours: Extended Full Day: 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Full Day: 8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Before Care: 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m.

After Care: 3:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

**Half Day: 12:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Half Day camp is only offered to campers Pre-K – 5th grade that are coming from another camp offered at LMP. i.e. : Soccer camp, dance camp, Mad Science, writing camp, etc.

Week 3: June 20 - 24 ~ Planes, Trains and Automobile Things (Focus: Take a trip on different transportations, become an engineer, and explore how automobiles function)

Week 4: June 27 – July 1~ Bakery Bonanza (Focus: Learn how to make kid-friendly delightful culinary treats)

Week 5: July 4* - 8 ~ Reptiles & Amphibians (Focus: Herpetology and the cool scientific discoveries of reptiles & amphibians)

Week 6: July 11 - 15 ~ Under the Sea(Focus: What lies beneath the ocean floor? Explore the phenomena of the sea!)

Week 7: July 18 - 22 ~ Stars on Demand(Focus: Let your star shine bright by releasing your acting, signing, and dancing talent)

Week 8: July 25 - 29 ~ Winter in July (Focus: Celebrating the winter holidays in the summer! Snow days, holiday caroling, sliding, and so much more!)

Week 9: August 1 – 5 ~ Exploration Disney(Focus: Experience and discover the history behind Mr. Walt Disney and his vision for the most magical place on earth!)

CREATIVE Writing CampGrade Level: entering grades 1-5 Instructor: Cynthia SivaDates: June 13-17 (Grades 1-3) ,June 20-24 (Grades 4 -6) Times: 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Cost: $195 Overview: Lead by the Co-Director of the National Writing Project in Daytona, Fl, Mrs. Siva will get your primary writers who are hungry to write in gear for worthy writing skills! This camp will use the 6+1 Traits of Writing to help young writers develop ideas, sentence fluency, organization, word choice, and voice. By the end of the week of Writing Camp, young writers will have used the writing process to publish a piece of their own writing!

Middle School: Organizational & Study SkillsGrade Level: entering grades 6-8 Instructor: Kathy BenefielDates: July 25-29 Times: 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Cost: $195Overview: This class will present middle school students with a compilation of meaningful advice, methods and activities that will help middle school students reach their academic goals. The class is designed to lead middle school students to understand their learning styles and offers recommendations towards utilizing personal strengths towards academic success. Topics include: learning styles, goal setting and organization, cognitive skills, time and stress management and test preparation.

Geometry Summer CourseGrade Level: entering grades 9-12 Instructor: Andrea O’NeillDates: (week 1) May31 – June 3 & (week 2-4) June 6-24 Cost: $1,500Times: 12:00 – 3:30(week 1), 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (weeks 2-4) Overview: The prerequisite for this course is Algebra 1 with an A or B. This class will allow your child to take an entire year of Geometry in four weeks. This is a great opportunity for those students who love mathematics or simply want to take more Advanced Placement Mathematics courses for college credit. Students will also benefit from being in a higher math course on the math portions of the SAT and ACT. Students that would like to take this course must get a recommendation from Mrs. O’Neill, as this is a fast-paced course. The topics include SAT/ACT prep, reasoning and proof, parallel and perpendicular lines, polygons, surface area, volume and circles.

*To be recommended for Algebra II for next year, the student must earn a C+ or higher for the overall grade.

ACADEMICS Algebra II Summer CourseGrade Level: entering grades 10-12 Instructor: Brent HeroldDates & Time: May 27 & May 31, 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. (week 1) Cost: $1,500 June 13-July 1, 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (week 2-4) Overview: The prerequisite for this course is the successful completion of Geometry and Algebra I. This class will allow your child to take an entire year of Honors Algebra II in four weeks. This is a great opportunity for those students who love mathematics or simply want to get ahead in the study of mathematics. By taking Algebra II over the summer, students may take Pre-Calculus* next year which will allow them to take multiple AP Mathematics courses in the coming years. Students that would like to take this course must get a recommendation from Mr. Herold and have a B or higher in their current mathematics course, as this is an extremely rigorous course. Algebra II continues the study of the structure of Algebra and goes deeper into the concepts of Algebra I. The topics include relations, functions, graphs, polynomial and rational expressions, exponents, logarithms, and complex numbers. A TI-Nspire CX calculator is required for this course. *To be recommended for Pre-Calculus next year, the student must earn a C+ or higher for the overall grade.

S.M.I.L.E ~ Science Math with Literary Experiences Grade Level: entering grades 2-5 Instructor: Mara Delgado Dates: June 6-10 Times: 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Cost: $195Overview: Let’s make connections...we are going to read books and engage in math and science investigations. Have you ever made ice cream? How many different combinations of toppings and flavors can you create? Can you build a bridge out of paper? How can you make a 3D apple? Do all apples taste the same? Come to this class and you’ll be SMILEing at the answers to these questions!

Private Music LessonsGrade Level: entering grades 1 – 12 Instructor: Justin StanleyDates: June 6 – July 1 & July 11 – August 5 (Monday – Friday)Time: 8:00a – 2:00p Mr. Stanley will contact you individually to schedule your child’s time for his/her lessons. We will learn how to make presentations on Prezi, Explain Everything, iMovie, Book Creator, Google Docs, Animoto and many more. Become an up incoming director and producer just in one week!

Strength in Numbers ~ Singapore MathGrade Level: entering grades 1-5 Instructor: Nicole BaseliceDates: July 18-22 (Grade 1-3) and July 25-29 (Grade 3-5) Cost: $195Times: 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Overview: This isn’t your ordinary math camp! Become a Mathlete by exercising your brain with number sense, mental math, and model drawing. Using the Singapore Method, Ms. Baselice will get everyone in tip top shape with the help of technology, food, fun and games. After a week of fun, campers will have a positive view of math and the confidence to take the school year by storm!

Virtual Travelers Grade Level: entering grades 3-5 Instructor: Mara Delgado Dates: July 11 -15 Times: 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Cost: $195Overview: Let’s travel around the world in 5 days!!! Are you ready for some geography fun? I have your passports!! In this class, we will be reading books about countries around the world and then taking virtual field trips to these places. There will also be crafts and food tasting.

SEW Unique! Grade Level: entering 3-5 Instructor: Nicole BaseliceDates: June 13-17 Times: 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Cost: $195Overview: Learn how to create the newest fashions using items from your own closet! This camp will teach you how to transform old jeans, tee shirts, and uniforms into cool new accessories and clothes. Ms. Baselice will teach students basic machine and hand sewing techniques. Campers will receive a list of items to gather before camp begins. At the end of the week, each camper will be an environmentally conscious fashionista with several one-of-a kind creations. Girls Volleyball Grade level: entering grades 3-8 Instructor: Brittainy DaigerDates: June 13-17 Times: 8:30 – 12:30 Cost: $195Overview: Whether you are just a beginner or have been playing the game for years, this camp will help improve your performance. The camp will concentrate on communication, passing, blocking, serving, positioning, setting, and digging. Contests and team games will also be a part of camp with awards and prizes given at the completion of camp.

Baseball Grade level: entering grades 1-8 (co-ed) Instructor: Justin Varitek Dates: June 20 - 24 & August 1-5 Times: 8:30 – 12:30 Cost: $195Overview: The Lake Mary Prep Baseball Camps are designed to ensure every camper will have a positive and fun experience while learning essential skills, drills, and techniques that are involved with baseball. We will work on hitting, pitching, catching, throwing, running, fielding, and bunting throughout the week. Games will be played each day and prizes will be awarded at the completion of camp. This camp is perfect for boys and girls who love baseball.

BasketballGrade level: entering grades 1-8 (co-ed) Instructor: Alvin PeguesDates: July 11 – 15 Times: 8:30 – 12:30 Cost: $195Overview: The Griffin Basketball Camps will focus on player development in both skill and self-confidence. Students will work on the fundamentals of shooting, passing, ball-handling, and defense. Competitions and games will also take place in the week long instructional camp with awards and prizes given at the completion of camp.

FOOTBALL (no pads) Grade level: entering grades 3-8 Instructors: Keith Walsh and Zach CarterDates: July 25 - 29 Times: 8:30 – 12:30 Cost: $195Overview: Lake Mary Prep football camp is designed to help players improve their football skills whether you are a beginner or have been playing for years. The camp will focus on developing fundamentals at each of the primary positions. This will be the perfect camp to get you ready for your upcoming season.

Soccer Grade level: entering grades 1-8 (co-ed) Instructor: Tomasz Wilczak and Stefan RossDates: June 27-July1 & July 18-22 Times: 8:30 – 12:30 Cost: $195Overview: The Lake Mary Prep Soccer Camp will be broken into sections based on age and skill level; therefore, it will provide a great atmosphere for beginners as well as more experienced players. In this fun-filled camp, Coach Wilczak and Ross will focus on several fundamentals including: passing, dribbling, striking, goalkeeping, and shooting. Awards will be handed out at the completion of camp.

Archery Grade level: entering grades 3-8 (Co-ed) Instructor: Ann SkippersDates: June 6 – 10 Times: 8:30 – 12:30 Cost: $195 Overview: Lake Mary Prep is excited to offer the first ever LMP Archery Camp. Campers will be divided into groups based on their skill level, which will provide a great atmosphere for beginners as well as for more experienced archers. In this fun-filled camp, Coach Skippers will focus on several fundamentals including: stance, setup, anchor points and release. Awards will be handed out at the completion of camp for most accurate and improved shooters.

G-Force Mini's:  Cheer, Pom-Pom Dance, & Tumble Camp Grade Level: entering grades Pre-K 3 - 5 Instructor: Mary AbedDates: July 11 – 15 Times: 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Cost: $195Overview: This high-energy class combines cheerleading, pom-pom dance, and tumbling all into one course. In this program students will learn: basic cheer & pom technique, sideline and floor cheers, and basic tumbling skills. Students will enjoy playing cheer related games and will learn positive sportsmanship through team building activities. Participants will present their cheers & pom routine in a performance at the end of the week.
