Course Description During the course of our time together we will study the theme of Resilience while focusing on the following skills: Writing, Writing, Writing Cause and Effect Compare/Contrast We will also read a wide variety of fiction and non- fiction books, articles and stories to further elaborate on the theme of resilience. During Second Semester we will delve deeper into the Resilience Theme and you will write at least 3 essays as well and a long synthesis essay where you compile a portfolio of your best writing. We will also read several high interest novels. We will also review grammar rules that pertain to writing and editing. - Respect will always be given to all students and is expected in return.

- Listen and follow the teacher’s directions the first time given. Thanks you!

- Keep the classroom environment clean. Eating or drinking should be done before entering the classroom. This is our home away from home. Let’s keep it neat and clean.

- Speak appropriately. Profanity or bullying is not tolerated in our home.

- Respect others personal space and property. It’s our job to

ensure that all school property is kept clean and in working order.

- Please refrain from touching or looking at your cell phone during class. I know you’re doing this if you’re looking down at your lap for more than 3 seconds.

- Please use the classroom clock to tell time.

- If you refuse to hand the teacher your cell phone security will be called and you will then be escorted to your dean.

- Please refrain from using or listening to your MP3 player especially if it’s connected to your cell phone.

- IDs should be with you at all times.
