PARISH ADVENT RETREAT in the Polish language will begin today, Sunday, December 2 and end Wednesday, December 5. The Retreat will be facilitated by Fr. Mariusz
Kasperski, OMI, a missionary from Madagascar. The schedule for the Retreat with Advent homily is: December 2 - during the Masses at 8:00 am; 11:30 am; 6:00 pm. December 3 - during the Masses at 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Following the
evening mass, there will be a meeting with Missionary. December 4 - during the Masses at 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. December 5 - during the Mass at 10:00 a.m. with Sacrament of the Sick
and 7:00 p.m. with Advent homily On Wednesday, there will be a farewell gathering (coffee & pastry) hosted
by the Oblate Missions Family of Friends (MAMI) for the Missionary in our hall following the Masses.
During the entire Retreat, we will have Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and Confessions one hour before Mass begins.

ADVENT - The Church’s yearly Advent herald is a call to repentance. The season of Advent urges us to be open to a conversion of heart. As a family of faith, we are urged to hear this call to conversion to prepare ourselves to be ready to greet the Son of Man. On the first Sunday of Advent, we light the 1st candle of Advent - the “Prophecy Candle” in remembrance of the prophets, primarily Isaiah, who foretold the birth of Christ. On the 2nd Sunday of Advent, the 2nd candle is lit representing love. On the 3rd Sunday of Advent, also known as Gaudete Sunday, meaning “to rejoice” the 3rd candle is lit representing joy. On the 4th Sunday of Advent, the 4th candle is lit, often called the “Angels Candle” representing peace.
FIRST FRIDAY OF THE MONTH - December 7. We invite all to participate in Devotions at 6:30 p.m. followed by Mass at 7:00 p.m. Confessions will be one hour before Mass begins. On this day, there will be visitation of the sick and elderly. If there is someone you would like a priest to visit, please call our office and their names will be placed on the list.
ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT is every First Friday of the month in our Chapel from 7:30 p.m.—9:00 p.m.
NOVENA TO THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION began November 29 and will end December 7. Novena will be half hour before Evening Mass; Thursday at the Polish Manor or Novena may be prayed at home; Saturday and Sunday following Mass at 8:00 a.m.
THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY - December 8 - when we give thanks to the Holy Trinity for the gift of the Immaculate Conception. This is also the Feast of the Patroness of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate. We would like to wish our Pastoral Team: Fr. Jacek Nosowicz, OMI; Fr. Piotr Dudek, OMI and Fr. Wojciech Wojtkowiak, OMI many God’s Blessings and care under their Patroness, Mary Immaculate. On this day, let us remember in a special way all the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate in our prayers especially those who are no longer with us.

NEW LITURGICAL YEAR - Today is the last Sunday of the Church year when we will now begin the new Liturgical Year, Year C with the First Sunday of Advent. The season of Advent begins with a call to perseverance and vigilance as we prepare to celebrate not just the historical event of the birth of Jesus of Nazareth, but our central belief that Christ will come again in glory to judge all humanity. Our readings are chosen to help us reflect on this great truth and be prepared for the coming of Christ.
A message of hope—the coming of a Saviour and the key to preparing for eternity.

CROSS IN OUR CHURCH - A sincere thank you to all who offered donations to erect a Cross in our Church. The date of installation will be announced in the near future.
PARISH RADIO PROGRAM has been broadcast for many years on CKJS 810 AM Radio. Each month we must pay $1,333 which is $16,000 annually. This program is listened to by many, especially the sick and elderly and those not able to be with us at our Masses. To date, we have collected $14,085.00. We still need to raise $1,915 by year end that we may continue broadcasting on the radio. We are asking all those who have not yet donated to this cause to please help us in our appeal. CATHOLIC WOMEN’S LEAGUE will be having their general meeting today, Sunday, December 2 following the Mass at 9:30 a.m.
CATHOLIC WOMEN’S LEAGUE are asking all parishioners to please come out to help make perogies on Wednesday, December 12 at 9:00 a.m. in our parish hall. All help is greatly appreciated.
ANNUAL BAKE, PEROGY & CHRUSTY SALE organized by the Catholic Women’s League will be held on Sunday, December 16 in our parish hall following all morning masses. CWL is asking all parishioners to please help with baking for the sale which may be brought to the parish hall on Sunday, December 16 before all morning Masses.
CHRISTMAS HAMPERS - the Catholic Women’s League are once again organizing Christmas Hampers and are asking all parishioners to help with items of dry, packaged and canned foods, baby food, toiletries and also there is a great need for art supplies such as markers, crayons, pencil crayons, paints, etc. Boxes are located in the Selkirk Avenue entrance to the Church. All items will be donated to the Missionaries of Charity to distribute to families in need.
ST. NICHOLAS will be visiting our parish on Sunday, December 9 with treat bags for the children following the 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. Masses. A special thank you to the Knights of Columbus for inviting and arranging St. Nicholas to visit.
CHANGE OF ADDRESS - we are asking all parishioners who have moved in the last year to please call our parish office with your change of address if you have not yet done so. We will soon be mailing out the Christmas correspondence and need to update our parish records to prevent mail being returned to us.

YEAR 2019 SUNDAY OFFERTORY ENVELOPES will be ready to be picked up on Friday, December 14 in the Aikins Avenue foyer. These may be picked up during our Penitential Service; Saturday
evening; Sunday following the Masses or our parish office during the week. These will only be mailed out in special cases as the cost to mail these sets is very costly. We ask to please not use these until the new year. The first envelope in the set is the “Initial Offering” which is to help cover the expense for printing the envelopes. We ask to please use this envelope to help defray this cost for us. Those who do not have envelopes and would like a set are asked to contact our office. We ask to please check the name and address to ensure you are picking up the right set.

Prepare the way of the Lord! Today marks the Second Sunday of Advent, and we are filled with hope, joy and anticipation. The Lord enters the world to save us. Our paths will be made straight. Our burdens will be eased. Our darkness will be lightened. Salvation is at hand.
Hope continues in the Gospel as John prepares the way of the Lord, baptizing in his name and proclaiming that salvation is near.
SHARING GOD’S GIFTS APPEAL 2018: Goal for Year 2018: $ 41,430.00 Parish Assessment for Year 2018: $ 65,270.00 Total owing for Year 2018: $106,700.00 To date we have collected: $ 30,598.00 We are appealing for your support for this Archdiocesan Appeal. To date, we still have to raise $10,832 by year end for our Sharing God’s Gifts Appeal. The goal established for our parish by the Archdiocese of Winnipeg is our obligation and must be paid in full at year end. We are appealing to those who have not yet participated for your understanding and support for this cause. It is very difficult for our parish to absorb this entire cost as we must also pay $65,270 for our assessment. We understand this is a huge undertaking for all parishioners, however, if each family would participate with a minimum $10.00 monthly donation, we would be able to succeed. We ask to see in your hearts to help us.
