8 February 2018 2018 ICAS – Years 2 to 6 students Dear Parents Welcome to the 2018 International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS), formerly known as the Australian Schools Competitions. For over 20 years, ICAS has taken place each year in schools throughout the world including Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, the Pacific region and South Africa. Should your son be keen to participate we will be holding the tests indicated on the dates below during the school day. All students involved in enrichment or extension programs are encouraged to participate. Subject Sitting date Cost Digital Technologies Tuesday, 8 May (Years 3 to 6 only) $9.90 Science Tuesday, 29 May (Years 2 to 6) $9.90 Writing Thursday 14 June (Years 3 to 6 only) $19.80 Spelling Wednesday, 13 June (Years 2 to 6) $13.20 English Tuesday, 31 July (Years 2 to 6) $9.90 Mathematics Tuesday, 14 August (Years 2 to 6) $9.90 ICAS provides an opportunity for students to gain a measure of their own achievement in an external assessment situation. These assessments differ to NAPLAN and internal testing, as they are a competition aimed at challenging students who are achieving at an average to above average level in the curriculum. All students receive a certificate and an individual student report indicating which questions they answered correctly, as well as the average mark for the state/region. Certificates are awarded for each year level in each state/region as follows: High Distinction to the top 1 per cent of entrants Distinction to the next 10 per cent of entrants Credit to the next 20 per cent of entrants Participation to all other participating students

Dear Parents

Welcome to the 2018 International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS), formerly known as the Australian Schools Competitions.

For over 20 years, ICAS has taken place each year in schools throughout the world including Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, the Pacific region and South Africa.

The entry fee will be billed to your school account. Please return the permission slip only to the School by the closing date of Friday, 29 March (Term 1 Week 9) so that your son can be registered. We cannot guarantee placements for late requests as the registration process takes place in Term 1.
