CEREMONY The Australian Ex-Prisoners of War Foundation in conjunction with the Ballarat RSL are hosting a Commemorative Ceremony on Sunday 4th February, 10.30am in honour of all the ANZAC Prisoners of War that fell during World War II. DEDICATION CEREMONYThe Australian Hellenic Memorial Foundation is re dedicating the Australian Hellenic Me-morial to include the allied New Zealand Soldiers that fought along the Australian, British and Greek Forces during the 2nd World War. The ceremony will take place on Sunday 4th March at 11.30am at the Australian Hellenic Memorial in the Domain Gardens. For more information please contact Mr. Peter Andrinopoulos on 0416 020 865.

NATIONAL ART COMPETITION The Cretan Youth of Australia & New Zealand are launching the first ever National Art Com-petition which is based around the Battle of Crete on Monday 5th March 2018. All youth members registered with a club are allowed to enter and take part in the competition and works are to remain anonymous. Entries close on the 7th May and all national voting is closed by the 18th May and the winners will be announced on social media. LECTURE / PRESENTATIONThe Battle of Crete and Greece Commemorative Council is proud to present British based author and historian Mr Chris White for a Lecture / Presentation on the “Cretan Resis-tance and SOE in WW2”, on Saturday 17th March at the Greek Centre, 168 Lonsdale Street Melbourne at 2.00pm. Chris will outline his research into the story of the resistance to Ger-man occupation on Crete during WW2, including the experience of the British SOE agents and the famous kidnapping of the German General Krepe in 1944. The presentation will fea-ture photographs rarely seen before, as well as Chris’ own taken as part of his identification of the locations used by the resistance and SOE. There will be an opportunity afterwards for attendees to meet with Chris to discuss specific villages and areas and to consider some

PHOTO PRESENTATION The Battle of Crete and Greece Commemorative Council in conjunction with the Lemnos Gallipoli Commemorative Committee will be presenting two historical framed photos to the Victorian Returned Services League in memory of those ANZAC Soldiers that served in Greece during the 1st and 2nd World War. OPEN PANEL DISCUSSION The Battle of Crete & Greece Commemorative Council is hosting a Panel Discussion at the Greek Centre, 168 Lonsdale Street Melbourne, on Thursday 17th May 2018 at 6.30pm for a 7.00pm start. Topic of the discussion: War, personal stories and the landscape of memory. Professor Joy Damousi, former Head of History at the University of Melbourne, will facilitate the discussion.
