The Obagi Blue Peel RaDIaNCE™ protocol is a 30-minute hands-on procedure. Ensure the patient has complied with all pre-peel instructions. Examine the skin to ensure there are no areas of existing irritation. If areas of irritation are identified, do not apply peel to those areas. Pull the hair away from the face with a headband. Test application of the peel solution on a small area of skin before applying to a large area. apply occlusive agent (aquaphor/Vaseline) to corners of the mouth, around the eye area and nasal labial folds. The client will be most comfortable in a reclining position.

Post Peel Instructions

Following the use of this product, the patient must use adequate sunscreen protection for at least a week after the peel. Sun exposure can cause the skin to not heal properly and may cause post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

Following the peel, the patient’s skin may be slightly dry and red for 1-2 days. Mild peeling should start to occur within 48 hours and can last 2-5 days. The patient should not speed the peeling process with any sort of physical exfoliation but should treat the skin very gently during this time. a mild moisturizer, such as Hydrate, may be used to minimize dryness and redness. a sun protection product with an SPF of at least 30, such as Sun Shield Matte Broad Spectrum SPF 50, should always be worn. Facial products containing fragrance should be avoided for 3-5 days after the procedure, as they may irritate the skin. The patient should avoid direct sun exposure and use of all exfoliating agents such as aHas, BHas, retinoids, and exfoliating scrubs for 5-7 days after the procedure. The patient can return to their normal skin care regimen 7 days after receiving the Blue Peel RaDIaNCE. Please see product insert for additional information.

Important Safety Information for Obagi Nu-Derm Clear, Blender, and Sunfader(ContainS 4% hydroquinone)

COnTRAInDICATIOns:People with prior history of sensitivity or allergic reaction to this product or any of its ingredients should not use it. The safety of topical hydroquinone use during pregnancy or in children (12 years and under) has not been established.

wARnInGs:avoid contact with eyes, nose, mouth, or lips. In case of accidental contact, patient should rinse eyes, nose, mouth, or lips with water and contact physician.

Sunscreen use is an essential aspect of hydroquinone therapy because even minimal sunlight exposure sustains melanocytic activity.

Contains sodium metabisulfite, a sulfite that may cause allergic-type reactions including anaphylactic symptoms and life-threatening or less severe asthmatic episodes in certain susceptible people. The overall prevalence of sulfite sensitivity in the general population is unknown and probably low. Sulfite sensitivity is seen more frequently in asthmatic than in non-asthmatic people.

PReCAUTIOns (ALsO see wARnInGs):Treatment should be limited to relatively small areas of the body at one time since some patients experience a transient skin reddening and a mild burning sensation, which does not preclude treatment.

Pregnancy Category C: animal reproduction studies have not been conducted with topical hydroquinone. It is also not known whether hydroquinone can cause fetal harm when used topically on a pregnant woman or affect reproductive capacity. It is not known to what degree, if any, topical hydroquinone is absorbed systemically. Topical hydroquinone should be used on pregnant women only when clearly indicated.

nursing Mothers: It is not known whether topical hydroquinone is absorbed or excreted in human milk. Caution is advised when topical hydroquinone is used by a nursing mother.

Pediatric Usage: Safety and effectiveness in children below the age of 12 years have not been established.

If you develop these symptoms, your healthcare provider may tell you to stop using it for a while, decrease the number of applications, or stop using it completely. Tell your healthcare provider about any side effect that bothers you or does not go away.

The safety and efficacy of tretinoin have not been established in the treatment of patients younger than 10 years of age (gel) or 12 years of age (cream), or in pregnant, or nursing women.
