A letter from Superintendent, Scott Cowart
Welcome to the Carroll County School System! Our commitment to positively changing lives is the foundation for everything we do.
Our approach is to focus on educating the whole child in preparing students to be enrolled, employed, or enlisted upon graduation. The 2018-2019 school year demonstrated the effectiveness of the strategies we have in place, and we have much to celebrate.
For the second consecutive year, the district’s graduation rate is over 90%. Performance on the Georgia Milestones Assessments improved for elementary, middle, and high schools, and the district continues to exceed state performance. In addition, we see an increase in the number of students choosing dual enrollment and Advanced Placement courses. And, Carroll County School System is one of only three districts in Georgia to have its own STEM Certification
Program, as well as the only system in the state with a STEAM Certification Program.
The Carroll County School System was voted the Best Employer in the 2019 Times-Georgian Reader’s Choice Awards, our Board of Education earned the Georgia School Board Association’s Exemplary
School Board status, and the district received high praises in its 5-year review from the AdvancED Accreditation team.
While we are incredibly proud of the accomplishments from the 2018-2019 school year, we are focused on planning for another premier year. Our staff is equipped with the tools to create engaging and
collaborative learning environments, our campuses are safer than ever before, and we are excited to serve our students and our community.
Thank you for choosing Carroll County Schools!

IN MEMORY OF:
Dawn Alford
Miss Elizabeth “Dawn” Alford graduated as Valedictorian of Temple High School in 1996 and later graduated from Georgia Tech Magna Cum Laude with a Chemical Engineering degree. She was a Public Policy Director and Lobbyist at the Georgia State Capital with Georgia Council of Developmental Disabilities (GCDD) for six years. Miss Alford was very inspirational, learning to be an advocate for herself and overcoming all obstacles. She exemplified what “Once a Tiger, Always a Tiger” means by setting a high standard of expectations for herself and everyone around her. She will be greatly missed by the Temple Community.
Carroll County Schools will be recognized as a premier school system by sustaining
