When it came up for sale a little over four years ago I didn’t think it was quite right for me, but I decided to take a look anyway, and the minute I set foot through the front door there was such a lovely atmosphere that I was immediately sold.” “Although the house has lots of lovely features, the previous owners had given it a quite contemporary feel in terms of décor,” continues Emma. “I have since renovated the house throughout to give it a more classic look, in keeping with its sense of history, and it now also feels wonderfully light and bright.” “I have done a lot of work to the garden,” continues Emma, “and it’s a space that I have really enjoyed during my time here. Just outside the conservatory is a really pretty patio area with raised beds, so it’s very easy to maintain. I’ve also had stone seating constructed around a fire pit, so I have a lovely place to sit on a chilly evening. Beyond the lower patio steps lead up to an area of grass and another raised terrace. From there you can sit and enjoy views over the surrounding fields, all the way to the Mendips. It’s completely stunning.” “The village is a lovely place to live, and incredibly friendly,” says Emma, “there’s a real sense of community here. We have a small convenience shop and Post Office, two nice pubs that both do really good food, and a car servicing garage. If you don’t have a car the bus routes are very good, and the train from Bath operates a fast service into central London, so it’s a great area for commuters.”
