• 2. Participants will evaluate their lives and make appropriate changes re issues that may cause burnout in their personal lives.


Burnout• Elijah and Jezebel . 1

Kings 19: 1-3.• How could it happen?• Leaders burn out when

they pay out huge emotional expenses without replenishing the inner person.


Elijah’s Emotional Expense

• Predicted a drought to King Ahab.• Supernaturally receives food from a

widow and the birds.• Announces the end of the drought.• Mobilizes people to eliminate idols.


Challenges the 450 prophets of Baal


Elijah’s Emotional Expense• Prays down

torrential rain in Judah.

• Outruns the storm and Ahab’s chariot.

• Confronted by Jezebel; leaves his servant.

Isolation: He cut himself off from friends.



Paranoia: He felt totally alone in serving God.

The difference between problems and facts

• Problems are things we can do something about; we can solve problems.

• Facts are things we can do nothing about; therefore we do well not to worry about them.


Apply energy to those things you can change

Psalm 23 reminds us of what God alone can control and what

we can control.


Psalm 23 defines God as our ….

• Possession• Provision• Peace• Pardon• Partner• Preparation• Praise• Paradise



Be Relaxed

• I now let go of all tension, I am relaxed. • I now see life as a wondrous journey. • I am now at peace with myself and my

surroundings. • I now focus on thoughts of love and peace. • I am now emotional at peace with myself. • I now feel relaxed and at ease in what I do. • I am at ease with those who I meet.



Prayer Focus• Father, In the name of Jesus, I

surrender myself to walk in the Word. Your word living in me produces the Life in this world.

• The word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. It makes my way plain before me.

• I boldly and confidently say that my heart is fixed and established on the solid foundation – the Living Word of God! Amen
