InvitationFollowing a highly successful and well-attended event on the Gold Coast in 2014, the Australasian Society for Breast Disease (ASBD) and the Breast Surgeons of Australia and New Zealand (BreastSurgANZ) are co-badging once again to host the 2nd Australasian Breast Congress (ABC2) in Auckland, NZ.

The four-day congress will be held from Thursday 7th to Sunday 10th July 2016. The focus of this meeting will be Advances and Controversies in Breast Cancer. The congress will bring together radiologists, surgeons, breast physicians, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, medical trainees, breast care nurses, and for the first time in New Zealand, consumers and the general public.

A strong surgical component will provide breast and plastic surgeons with an opportunity to observe the latest techniques in live oncoplastic & reconstructive surgery, with an interactive educational workshop and group discussions planned over two days at North Shore Hospital and Waitemata DHB Conference Centre.

The organising committee have planned a comprehensive and highly-educational program which utilises the excellent international and local faculty who are participating at the ABC2. Workshops, plenary talks, networking activities and interactive educational sessions will provide registrants with a unique experience. This multidisciplinary meeting is designed for health care professionals to advance their knowledge regarding all aspects of breast cancer management. Controversial issues including the treatment of low-

risk lesions and screening will be debated and updates provided on a range of topics including: management of hereditary breast cancer, tumour biomarkers and heterogeneity, diagnostic and molecular imaging, neoadjuvant therapy, breast cancer in young women and survivorship issues.

The international speakers are of the highest calibre, making this meeting an important event on the medical calendar for 2016. The ABC2 will provide local and international registrants an opportunity to be involved in world-class education in our region tailored to suit the needs of breast cancer care specialists.

The hosts of ABC2, BreastSurgANZ and ASBD, are key groups involved with the education of breast surgeons and breast cancer multidisciplinary specialists in Australia and New Zealand. Both organisations have a history of very successful and well-attended meetings attracting high-calibre international and local faculty.

An enticing social program will also be available for delegates to purchase in and around Auckland, and for those wanting a winter wonderland holiday, travel and adventure packages to Queenstown are also available at a later date. Options include winery tours, golfing, sightseeing, skiing and local tours.

On behalf of the ABC2 organising committee we look forward to welcoming you to Auckland in July 2016.

Miss Katherine Gale
