A WORD FROM THE PRESIDENT

Dear friends,

The winter 2017 season has come to its end and summer announces that one

more year is coming to an end…

Our dear and beloved Brazil has suffered a lot from the misbehavior of many of

our constituted authorities, and these circumstances have almost forced us to

stop believing in the future with hope.

We are witnesses that companies, collaborators and entrepreneurs from our

town and the Alto Uruguai region are paying a lot for the lack of responsibility

of a few people…

However, despite of all these indicators stunning us all, we are forced to realize

and recognize everyday that we should keep a watchful eye to the “signs of the

times”, reviewing procedures and behavior, even if it may reduce our profit, so

to keep our belief in the upcoming spring…

A day will come when we will remind how these difficult moments helped us

to learn to live a better life. But this lesson will not be offered to us a Christmas

gift. Our vigilance and efforts must be constant, be it for the observation and

interpretation of facts, but especially in the qualification and individual/collecti-

ve resilience, since it is impossible to grow egoistically in our globalized world.

In this sense, serving my neighbor is not only an act of humility, but rather the

public demonstration that, together, we can and will be stronger, and that we

are committed to our company, our family and our community.

God willing, in our next newsletter – the last one this year – we will be able to

project goals and activities to make us bigger and better, so to close 2017 as

successfully as possible.

“TRANSFORM[ACTION]. Evolution is our brand.” With this slogan, Cavaletti promoted its 8th Sales Convention between September 21 and 22, 2017. The meeting was held in Erechim and gathered all representatives in Brazil. The object of the convention was to dis-cuss sceneries, evaluate the market and propose actions for brand expansion. To enrich the event, the entrepreneur and writer Eduardo Tevah was invited for a presentation. He talked on the concept of excellency, showing ways to fi nd competitive advantages and the importance of relationship.During the convention, two product lines were introduced and are now a part of the product portfolio: Cavaletti Essence and Cavaletti Flip.

On August 10, 2017, in Sao Paulo, the third book by Athié Wohnrath was published. This is one of the main companies working in the architectural, managing, engineering, consulting and construction fields, and is one of Cavaletti’s partners. It is well known for creating impressive projects, with unique and innovative processes, transla-ting the personality of people and the values of companies.Athié Wohnrath’s publication presents a collection of projects pre-pared within the past few months, including projects with Cavaletti products.

The re-seller Newflex took part in the CircuitoDecor Personalidades Exhibition between August 17 and 27, 2017, at the RioMar Shopping in Aracaju/Sergipe. Cavaletti’s products were shown in the environment of the design office IM Ambientes. The Exhibition had the purpose to show that decorating and transforming an environment is more than a life style, but rather the identity of a society.

Cavaletti has been elected the most innovative among the 50 biggest companies in Southern Brazil, by the Amanhã [Tomorrow] magazi-ne, in its 14th edition. Besides being included among the 50 most innovative companies for the third consecutive time, Cavaletti is the champion in the furniture segment.The recognition by the Amanhã magazine shows the company commitment to remain competitive with innovative products. “We look for a new perspective to relations between work, men and the office. Thus, we can present to the market solutions meeting the evolution of offices as centers for changes in the working world”, Engineering and Innovation Director, Jairo Roque Benincá, explains.To speed up its operations, the company invests a lot in innovation. It is now implementing a digitalizing process called “Cavaletti Digital”, in partnership with Siemens. In that process, all areas will be inte-grated to the digital factory conception, and every physical model will have a digital twin. “This will allow to study much more complex

Environmental Management: the new ISO 14001:2015 Standard

To offer high quality products to the market, with values perceived by clients and consumers, Cavaletti is always searching for the best staff, raw materials, equipment and technology. And it is not different with transportation. For this reason, it has just invested in the re-newal of its fleet by purchasing four trucks (two from Scania and two from Volvo), one of which to substitute the one which was stolen in July 2016.Currently, the trucks in the company’s fleet are provided with au-tomatic transmission, air conditioning, air suspension and sleeper cab, since, in a country with the size of a continent like ours, we must guarantee the availability of strong and high technology vehi-cles. Trucks as used by Cavaletti deliver products to distributors and clients throughout the country.

On August 20, 2017, new bunkers were inaugurated for the Colosso da Lagoa Stadium, fully meeting standards required by the Brazi-lian Football Confederation. The new environment, now modern and comfortable, received 54 armchairs manufactured by the company Cavaletti. Spaces are divided to receive two teams, a safety area and an area for the press.This project has made use of armchairs from the Prime line, espe-cially designed with the color and logo of the club. “This is a gift for Ypiranga and Erechim. Cavaletti is proud to support and be a part”, Cavaletti’s President, Mr. Mário Luiz Cavaletti, said.

ISO 14001 Standard (Environmental Management Systems) has re-cently concluded its third revision cycle, resulting in a new version which was introduced by year-end 2015. Cavaletti has such certifi-cation and started the transition process.ISO 14001:2015 is an international standard allowing an organiza-tion to develop and practice environmentally sustainable policies and goals. The new version is an important hallmark which will increment the profile of environmental management, putting it in the heart of business.That certification supports organizations by improving their environmental performance by using resources more efficiently, mi-nimizing the generation of residues, providing more effective use of energy and evaluating the life cycle of the product. Therefore, it con-tributes to increase the competitive level of the corporations.

Always on the forefront of oncologic treatment and with the mission “well care, always overcoming”, the Paraná Oncology Institute (IOP) innovates again by fully reforming its Batel unit, with 300 m², located in Curitiba, with improvement for the benefit of doctors, collabora-tors, patients and their relatives.The IOP Batel unit offers services with highly specialized doctors in Oncologic Surgery, Clinic Oncology, Radiotherapy and other medical specialties. Everything is offered in a harmonic environment, with doctors’ offices with full comfort and structure to serve patients.That unit receives patients looking for specialists in Oncogenetics, which is a field of medicine studying genetic mutations, so that more and more targeted treatments may be performed.The renovation of the IOP Batel unit had the object to enlarge and mo-dernize all environments. For this to become true, it was planned and executed by Yara Mendes architecture and design office. “The idea is to transmit the image of a modern professional environment, thus influencing the staff working therein. And the result has been surpri-sing with all these changes”, the architect Yara Mendes highlights.

The unit counts on a large number of persons in circulation, and thus the Waiting Room has received special attention: Cavaletti Spot arm-chairs in light colors, as well as other pieces of furniture, so to gene-rate a comfortable and warm feeling. The idea was to make a space similar to a living room, for patients to feel at home. The reception area has been designed to provide well-being to collaborators and clients, with Cavaletti Pro and Slim chairs.Doctors’ offices have been modernized, provided with state-of-the--art computing devices, furniture and glass partitions, aiming to offer better privacy to patients, besides new evaluation stretchers. Slim and C3 line chairs have been used for this space, everything for the comfort of doctors and patients.

On August 8, 2017, the National Day of Cholesterol Control was commemorated, and Cavaletti promoted a prevention action. Besides the lunch menu, there was an attempt to involve all collaborators with food guidance. The action aimed to create conscience of the seriousness of the problem, since excessive blood cholesterol is harmful and increases the risk of developing cardiovascular disorders. Activities are developed, permanently thinking of the quality of life of people.

The Healthier Cavaletti Project, coordinated by the People Manage-ment area in partnership with the Industry Social Service SESI, star-ted in 2015 with a group of collaborators invited to take part in chats and follow-up for food re-education, encouragement to the practice of exercise and activities resulting in better self-respect, since the object of healthy habits is better quality of life. In May this year, the third group started with the participation of 19 collaborators from va-rious departments in the company. For the collaborator Luceli Pozzer, to take part in the project is a great opportunity to learn more about food. “We eat badly, and this project allows us to better know food. I have changed a lot, and already started to eat much better. Now I care for my health”, Luceli highlights.

I’m pregnant, what now? This is a question made by many mums, after so many doubts coming from pregnancy, which is a period of huge transformations to a woman’s life. Besides changes in the body, various hormonal, emotional and psychological changes occur du-ring pregnancy. Future mums also need to deal with other challenges after the baby is born, which may bring some uncertainty to many of them.To help pregnant collaborators to win this challenge, Cavaletti pro-motes meetings and chats to future mums, offering guidance and prenatal follow up with a doctor, physiotherapist and psychologist, so to reach safe and well-oriented pregnancy. These interaction mo-ments between pregnant women promote the understanding of the pregnancy process and become true learning.

The Patterned and Folded (EDB) department has 34 collaborators and is where the production process for steel constituents of chairs starts. Parts are cut, folded or patterned according to the require-ments of each client as a function of its projects or design. Prototype parts are also developed for the manufacture of new products.In this department, collaborators require technical training and speci-fi c knowledge, since they need to control high technology machines

On September 2, 2017, the company effected the payment of 72.10% of the salary referring to PPR – the Results Sharing Program for the fi rst semester of 2017. This is one of the programs offered by Cavaletti, considering the recognition and possibility to award all collaborators for the results obtained from pre-established targets by the Strategic Planning which have been reached.

“Cavaletti’s PPR is one more incentive. I saved my PPR to travel with my family. I try not to mix it with the monthly pay so not to waste it with normal expenses. Then you can invest and make different things”. Kelen Pistore, Sewing Department.

“PPR is an addition since, if you know how to control this addi-tional income to your budget, you can do much more. I have always saved my PPR and managed to use it for the initial payment of my house. This year, I will use PPR for a house renovation, and will be able to move into it as soon as it is fi nished”. and meet a large variety of parts, using e. g. a bending machine BLM, plate cutter and laser tube, a press with automatic feeding and others. This is an investment made by Cavaletti to optimize the use of raw materials, improve productivity and minimize the intensive effort of collaborators.

Worried about the future and so to contribute to the society under formation, Cavaletti constantly receives technical visits from students to the company facilities, thus providing for the exchange of experiences and helping to better prepare professionals in formation for the job market. Erechim player wins a bronze medal at the soccer tournament in Deaflympics

Excellent news for local sport was the participation of Stefany Krebs, from Erechim, in Brazilian Women’s Soccer Team. They won a bron-ze medal at the Deaflympics in Samsun, Turkey, after beating Great Britain for 2-1.For Brazilian sports, this was a historic achievement for two reasons: this is the first Deaflympic medal won by Brazilian women and also the first Deaflympic medal won by Brazilian athletes in a team sport.About StefanyBetter known for playing for the Brazilian Deaf Futsal Team, Stefany Krebs, 19 years old, is the daughter of Leonir Krebs, a Cavaletti em-ployee. The company has supported Stefany Krebs to reach her dre-am and win this great result. We are proud for having her represen-ting both Brazil and Erechim in this competition. “I am very grateful for Cavaletti’s help. I promised that I would bring the medal, and I fulfilled that promise!!! I give you a part of my medal, since you have also supported me so much”.

MANAGER’S WORDDear collaborator friends,It seems that just recently we came back from vacation, and now we are surprised by one more year coming close to an end…It is very probable that the hard work by all of us has allowed us to go through this period with satisfaction, not letting us be negatively influenced by the news and truth we daily receive from everywhere.We all know that there have been difficulties, but they have not reduced our persistence and obstinacy.
