Putting energy front and centerARLINGTON, Va. - In the past, energy has been a side conversatiofor the Army. It tended to be an area of concern for some experts aspecialists, but for a lot of us, whetherSoldiers and Civilians in the workplaceor Family members in the community,we did not give it much thought. Maybewe paid attention to the Public ServiceAnnouncements reminding us to turn off

lights, but that was about it.However, with changing securityconcerns and increased demands onfinite financial and natural resources, energy has become an issue we all haveto pay attention to. We have to payattention to energy now, for the sake ofourselves and the Nation and futuregenerations. So I intend to keep the issue front and center. I intendkeep the dialogue focused on what we in the Installation ManagemCommunity must do, can do and are doing to increase the Army'senergy efficiency and security. The Army depends on a reliable, sa

cost-effective supply of energy to accomplish its mission, as well asprovide a good quality of life for Soldiers, Civilians and Families oninstallations worldwide. Article
