3.7 Earthquake Strikes 18 Miles Northeast Of Indio

INDIO (CNS) - A magnitude-3.7 earthquake struck today 18 miles northeast of Indio and 19 milesnorth-northeast of Coachella, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries as a result of the quake, which hit at 5:18p.m., Riverside County fire spokeswoman April Newman said.

Crews at county fire stations throughout eastern Riverside county moved their trucks out of stationbays and into driveways as a precaution, which is standard practice after any quake measuring 3.5or higher, Newman said.

Moving the trucks from the bays ensures they won't be damaged by faulty structures or aftershocks,she said.
