3M™ Duramix™ NVH Dampening Material 04374 Application Guide Introduction Duramix™ NVH Damping Material #4374 is a flexible adhesive-type material used to reduce noise and vibration in areas where a long open time is needed, such as replacing the thin layers of foam found between a roof skin and its support braces. Duramix™ #4374 can be applied to a thickness of 1 inch on vertical and overhead surfaces. It can also be applied over existing damping material as long as the original material is still integrally bonded. Description A non-expanding 2-part adhesive to be used for NVH (noise, vibration and harshness) damping applications where a long work time is needed, such as between roof bows and the roofskin. Product Uses NVH applications throughout the vehicle, including, but not limited to: Between roof bows and roof skin Between door skin and intrusion beam Between quarter panel and inner structure Between hood and deck lid skins and underlying spider frames Directions for Use 1. Clean all areas where NVH Damping Material #4374 or #4274 will be applied with 3M™ General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner. 2. Dry fit the panel or skin to ensure a proper fit before applying NVH Damping Material. 3. Be sure to equalize the cartridge before installing the mixing nozzle. Note: Although NVH damping material #4374 functions as a foam, it is not a foam. Use only Duramix™ Mix Tips #4901 or #4902 with NVH damping material #4374. DO NOT use a foam mix tip such as Duramix™ Mix Tip #4907 with NVH damping material #4374. For part #4274, simply use the 8193 Automix™ mixing nozzle. 4. Apply to all areas where the original factory damping material existed and to any other appropriate areas. If applying before mating two panels together, be sure to complete the installation of the second panel before the adhesive work life is completed, to insure that the two panels will be bonded together for optimum NVH properties. Work Time ¼ - ½” bead 60 Min. @ 77F Cure time ¼ - ½” bead 24 hours @ 77F Advantages Can be applied to vertical and overhead surfaces
