5 Rewarding and Unexpected Ways to Spend your Summer Summer is upon us, which usually means that you’ll suddenly have a little more free time to do whatever you want. While you could sit back and relax in front of your TV or tablet all summer, there is so much to do out there; why let time waste away? When you are still young and somewhat free from responsibility, embrace the time that you have and make the most of it. Now is the time to step out of your comfort zone and try new things, such as enrolling in a fun class in a foreign country. Whether you give a new sport a try, learn a new language or simply go exploring, take the time to make the most of your summer. After you graduate college and move on with more responsibilities, your schedule will become more complicated and opportunities could pass you up. This summer, try to set a goal to try three new sports, even if you only play them one or two times. They could be standard sports, such as tennis, softball, or basketball or you could really reach out on a limb and try something like surfing, rock climbing, or horseback riding to really stretch your limits. Try a New Skill Summer is a great time to be adventurous in the kitchen. Stop eating ramen noodles every day and try to learn to cook. 5 Rewarding and Unexpected Ways to Spend your Summer

Summer is upon us, which usually means that you’ll suddenly have a little more free time to do whatever

you want. While you could sit back and relax in front of your TV or tablet all summer, there is so much to

do out there; why let time waste away? When you are still young and somewhat free from responsibility,

embrace the time that you have and make the most of it. Now is the time to step out of your comfort zone

and try new things, such as enrolling in a fun class in a foreign country. Whether you give a new sport a

try, learn a new language or simply go exploring, take the time to make the most of your summer. There

are many places out there that offer exciting opportunities, such as FLS International, where you can learn

English while exploring the exciting opportunities presented by areas like California or Boston.

Try a New Sport

Even if you are not especially athletic, now is the time to try your hand at new sports or activities. You

never know what you might excel at unless you try. After you graduate college and move on with more

responsibilities, your schedule will become more complicated and opportunities could pass you up. This

summer, try to set a goal to try three new sports, even if you only play them one or two times. They could

be standard sports, such as tennis, softball, or basketball or you could really reach out on a limb and try

something like surfing, rock climbing, or horseback riding to really stretch your limits.

Try a New Skill

Summer is a great time to be adventurous in the kitchen. Stop eating ramen noodles every day and try to

learn to cook. There are many classes that you can take if you want to perfect your skills or you could

simply read recipes and watch videos online to start your creations. Start small, such as making a real

breakfast every day and then branch out into making elaborate dinners for you and your roommates. If

you are feeling especially creative, try your hand at baking too.

Go Camping

Summer is the best time to be outdoors, and there is no better way to become one with nature than by

camping. Step out of your comfort zone and camp the right way with a tent and a nice little campfire.

Take a few friends with you as you rough it and see how rejuvenated you feel when you return from your

trip with nature.

Try New Food

It is very easy to get stuck in a rut when eating in college. Whether you only know how to make a few

things, or if you have limited likes when it comes to food, now is the time to be adventurous. Set a goal

with your friends to try at least one new food each week. You can choose different types of cuisine each

time or simply see where your days take you, but the main goal is to make sure that you are trying

something new each week and building upon your new tastes.

When school is busy, it is difficult to have time to let your artistic side out. During the summer is the best

time to try your hand at different art forms, play a musical instrument, or write that short story you keep

talking about. Let your imagination run wild. Now is the time to take a mental break and see what inspires

you the most. Give every art form a try this summer as you never know where your real talents might lie.

The most important thing that you can do this summer is to try something new. Let your mind wander and

disregard your discomfort. Travel abroad and take a fun course, whether you want to learn English or

simply see the amazing culture of the United States. There are many opportunities to embrace, why not

try and embrace them all?
