The Vortec 5300 V8 generates 300 hp and 325 lb.-ft. of torque. For 2006, theengine employs Displacement on Demand, shutting down four cylinders in low-demand situations to maximize fuel economy.

The Vortec 4200’s in-line design, dual overhead camshafts and variable exhaustvalve timing contribute to its output of 291 hp and 277 lb.-ft. of torque.
