Knoebels Amusement Resort

By: Kyle Knoebels Park is not the typical amusement resort. Visitors will find swimming areas, golfing, nice lodging and of course roller coasters. Knoebels Park has rides for all ages. The swimming area is also for guests of all ages. Even a flood could not stop this park from providing amusement. This is not Disney land, this is not Canada Land, this is Knoebels amusement resort. Knoebels Park is very different from all the regular amusement parks. One reason why is because admission is free. However, before riding rides, visitors pay for the ride. This is could be a downfall of Knoebels Park, because guests have to carry wallets around with them. The pricing is 75 cents to $5.00. The rides are grouped for toddlers, children 11 years old to 16 and so on. Knoebels’s has some old rides and attractions. Older guests will enjoy the roller

coasters. The Phoenix was shipped from Mexico to Knoebels in 1985. The Twister came to Knoebels on July 24, 1999. Some of the little rides for the kids are: Hand cars, Jet sky Fighter ride, and Pathern Cars. Pathern Cars takes you round in circles. There are family rides as well, like Kozmos Kurves, The Mixer, Boat Tag, and many more. Another group is the thrill rides. The Cosmorton, Haunted Mansion, the Flume, and still more give thrills to those who try them. There are a lot of rides in Knoebels

Amusement Resort. Knoebels Park has a nice pool area. It is just like the roller coaster area, but all of the rides incorporate water. The general pricing for adults is $6.00 and the regular pricing for small children is $4.00. Also after 5pm they have a water slide and swim evening specials. You can get a ‘’combo’’ which is $11.00 to $13.00 depending on how many people are in your group and this pass allows you to swim all day. One water slide is 85 cents and 5 slides are $4.00. The water park is like the roller coaster part because its rides are grouped by ages.

Unfortunately in September 2011, Knoebol’s flooded and it was a disaster. Due to all the rubble and water damage, they had to close the park. Also some of the rides were severely damaged, so they had to close them. But after all of that

Page 11: 6th Amusement Park Magazine

damage, all of the rubble got cleaned up, and the rides were fixed and reopened.

They also have a cottage, which means guests can stay longer and even camp, under the stars. Knoebels also offers events at night. This feature, along with the rides and water parks make Knoebels and amazing amusement resorts.

Walt Disney World By: Emily

It all started with another dream. A very big dream! That dream was to open one

of the most well-known and visited parks in the world. It was also opened to bring joy and smiles to everyone everywhere. This park is called Walt Disney World.

Walt Disney World officially opened in 1971. It is located in Orlando, Florida. Walt Disney World came after the opening of Disney Land. Walt Disney founded and planned out Disney World with his executives. Sadly, months before Disney World opened Walt Disney died of lung cancer. After Walt’s death, his brother Roy took over the building project and sought to it that Disney World would full fill his brother’s dream. When Roy died two months after the opening of Disney World, trained executives took over the master plans. Walt Disney World is still developing and adding new things to impress the people, but never losing sight of Walt’s never-ending dream.

Walt Disney World has four amusement parks and two water parks. The amusement parks are Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom. The two water parks are Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon. All six of these parks are located on 25,000 acres of land. They are open 365 days of the year. Each park opens around nine o’clock in the morning give or take a few minutes. The closing times vary depending on if a park is being remodeled, or if there is a special event going on, like a fireworks show. Disney World also has a range of tickets guests can buy. They can buy a ticket for one day at only $67.00 for ages ten and up. They can also buy a five day ticket at only $206.00 or $41.20 a day for ages 10 and up.

There are some fun and exciting things to do at Walt Disney World. They have many rides about all different kinds of things. Some rides go into the air like Peter Pan’s Flight, The Magic Carpets of Aladdin, and Soarin’. Others use water like Splash Mountain. Splash Mountain is one of the tallest attractions in Magic Kingdom. The tallest attraction in the Magic Kingdom is Cinderella’s Castle. In my opinion, Cinderella’s Castle is one of the best things at Disney World. At night the castle lights up and flashes a lot of different colors. More rides in Disney World are It’s a Small World, Test Track, Mission-Space, and Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. Walt Disney World also has boutiques, restaurants, and fancy hotels where you can buy souvenirs, stay, and have a bite to eat.

Walt Disney World is a magical place for people of all ages. The story of Walt Disney World shows that one simple dream and vision can turn into years and years of happiness for people that the dreamer never knew. There is always a place for anyone

Page 22: 6th Amusement Park Magazine

and everyone who wants to share in the joy and excitement of Walt Disney World.

Universal Studios By: Keeley

On June 7, 1990 Universal Studios Orlando opened. Pete Werner was the creator with the idea for the park. For Disney, the opening of Universal Studios was upsetting because a rivalry between the two theme parks started. Universal Studios Orlando was a newer park and could lure Disney's tourists away. Despite Universal Studios Orlando being new, it had many ride glitches. Jaws and Kongfrontation had the most glitches. The Studio removed Kongfrontation in 2002 to make way for the Revenge of the Mummy ride.

An award winning ride at Universal is Men in Black Alien Attack. Universal

Studios recently added a new ride called Aersmoth’s Rockin Roller Coaster. Some other rides at Universal Studios include Jaws, which used to be under construction, because of the difficulties. Another is a 3-D simulation ride called The Simpsons. Most of the coasters contain unique facts that can be found at: http://www.universaltravelagents.com/pdf/USFFunFacts.pdf

Hotels at Universal Studios include Loews Portofino Bay Hotel, Hard Rock Hotel, and Loews Royal Pacific Hotel. Guest that stay at all of the hotels receive good, great, or excellent service. Hard Rock Hotel provides excellent service and and a beautiful sand pool for relaxation. Loews Royal Pacific Hotel is on cruise ship . Loews Portifino Hotel has great service and beautiful views.

Fine restaurants that are included at Universal Studios Orlando include Finnegan's Bar and Grill and Lombard's Seafood Grill. Universal Studios Orlando also offers other dinning. It contains causal dinning and quick service. Orlando Studios has a wide range of food from different countries including Italy and Mexico.

Universal Studios also contains a wide range of shows and play areas for kids. Universal has animal actors and characters in shops, near coasters and restaurants. Universal Studios also contains shows for adults to enjoy. Some examples are the Blue Brothers Show. Universal Studios is proud to have the show Fear Factor. Instead of watching it on TV it can now be seen live. Some areas that kids can play in include Curious George Goes to Town or Fievel’s Play Ground.

Page 24: 6th Amusement Park Magazine

Universal Studios also has a water park. The water park is called Wet ‘N’ Wild Water Park. Slides that are included at Wet ‘N’ Wild are the Black Whole , Brain Wash and Bomb Bay. Universal Studios also contains a water park area for kids.

Universal is a great theme park that the whole family can enjoy.
