During the break-in period, you need to pay careful attention tohow you drive your vehicle.

the law requires their use.

hard, turn hard, or if your vehicle receives an impact of 5 mph(8 km/h) or more, the lap/shoulder belt locks and helps reduceyour forward movement.

*[SR03400(ALL)05/95] After you get into your vehicle, close the door and lock it. Thenadjust the seat to the position that suits you best.*[SR03500(ALL)05/95] Pull the combination lap/shoulder belt from the retractor sothat the shoulder portion of the belt crosses your shoulder and

chest. Be sure the belt is not twisted. If it is, remove the twist.Insert the belt tongue into the proper buckle until you hear asnap and feel it latch. Make sure the tongue is securely fastenedto the buckle by pulling on tongue.

Rear-facing infant seats should never be placed in thefront seats.

This mode must be used when installing a child safetyseat on the front passenger seat and rear outboard seatswhere dual locking retractors are provided.

*[SR03529(ALL)08/95] To switch the retractor from the emergency locking mode to theautomatic locking mode, perform the following steps:*[SR03530(ALL)08/95] 1. Buckle the lap/shoulder combination belt.*[SR03531(ALL)09/95] 2. Grasp the shoulder portion of the belt and pull downwarduntil all of the belt is extracted and, when allowed to retract,

a clicking sound is heard. At this time, the belt retractor is inthe automatic locking mode (child restraint mode).

*[SR03532(ALL)08/95] 3. A clicking sound will continue to be heard as the belt isallowed to retract. This indicates that the retractor is in theautomatic locking mode.

[SR03900( X)05/91] The rear seat shoulder safety belts have a feature which allowsthe seat belt webbing to be stowed out of the way when therear seats are folded down (2 door only). To stow the belt whilethe seat is folded, attach the plastic snap on the seat belt to themetal mating part on the plastic trim panel. This will keep thebelt out of the way while the seats are folded. Once the rearseats have been returned to their upright position, unsnap thebelt from the trim panel.


The rear seat belt snap must be detached from the trimpanel prior to wearing the belt.

automatically. You must adjust it to fit snugly around yourhips. Do not wear it around your waist.

*[SR05950(ALL)06/95] To fasten the belt, pull the belt across your hips and insert thetongue into the correct buckle on your seat until you hear asnap and feel it lock. Make sure the buckle is securely fastened.

However, if the collision wasminor and a qualified technician finds that the belts do notshow damage and continue to operate properly, they do notneed to be replaced. Safety belt assemblies not in use during acollision should also be inspected and replaced if either damageor improper operation is noted.

or dye the belt webbing because this may weaken it.

addition to the lap/shoulder belt, and are designed tosupplement the protection provided to properly beltedoccupants in moderate to severe frontal collisions. Thesupplemental air bag system does not provide restraint to thelower body.

Safety belts must be worn by all vehicle occupants to beproperly restrained and help reduce the risk of injury ina collision.

on the gearshift lever has been pushed. When the light is on,the transmission does not shift into overdrive. Depressing thebutton on the shifter once more returns the vehicle to overdrivemode. The transmission will be in the overdrive mode when thevehicle is started even if the O/D OFF mode was selected whenthe vehicle was last shut off.

*[LG05855(ALL)05/95] NOTE: If the light does not come on when the TCS isdepressed or if the light flashes when you are driving,have your vehicle serviced at the first opportunity. Ifthis condition persists, damage could occur to thetransmission.

[LG05870( X)03/95] Speed Control Light (If equipped)*[LG05875( X)07/95] This light comes on when you turn on the speed control systemand set the speed. The light will be on whenever the speed

control is set, even if you override the set speed by pressing theaccelerator pedal or by pressing the coast button. The light willgo off when the brakes are used or the speed control system isturned off.

[LG05885( X)07/95] This light does not indicate any problems with the speed controlsystem, but is only a convenience to tell you when the speedcontrol system is active and ready to maintain a set speed.

and any door is opened. As soon as you lock the doors, thelight glows steadily. Within 30 seconds of closing all the doors,the light flashes intermittently (every 2 seconds). This indicatesthat the alarm system is armed.
