“…It is important to budget contributions just as you budget

other expenses. If contributions are not planned into your budget, they are likely to fall short of your own

expectations...

“…Like the electric bill, planned giving is part of your budget. It gives

you guidelines for how much you can afford to give and provides a

plan to be executed.”

From the Bible

Acts 20:35In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself

said: “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”

Page 15: A Biblical Study of Personal Finances

From the Bible

Deuteronomy 15:10Give generously to them and do so

without a grudging heart; then because of this the LORD your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to.

From the Bible

Luke 6:38Give, and it will be given to you.

A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap.

For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

Giving

• As Christians, we should lead the way on giving.

• 10% Tithe is a minimum guide. Our goal should be to give as much as possible of our time, talent, and treasure.

• We cannot ‘out-give” God!

Page 19: A Biblical Study of Personal Finances

The Spending Record

• Keeping track of our expenses is the only way to know if we are following our Spending Plan, if we need to adjust our Spending Plan, and if we are meeting our financial goals.

Page 20: A Biblical Study of Personal Finances

Keep Track of Your Finances

Proverbs 27:23 Be diligent to know the state of your

flocks, and attend to your herds.
