From the Manual-Dress Code

Page 2 Dancing Times

The good news: Proper attire is vital for the dancer’s safety and will maximize

the dancer’s learning experience. It is

necessary for the instructor to see the shape

and line of the dancer’s body and will assist

in the proper assessment of the

advancement of each student.

The bad news: If these requirements are

not followed, parents will be notified by the

instructor and the

student may not be

permitted to

participate in class

until the proper dance attire is worn. Failure to wear the

appropriate dance attire will constitute 1 absence. We

appreciate your cooperation with the compliance of the dress

code for our program.

THE LEOTARD: All Jr. & Sr. Level, Ballet, Jazz, Modern

and Pointe dancers must wear a BLACK LEOTARD and

PINK TIGHTS to class every week!

HAIR- HOW TO WEAR?

Ballet, Jazz, Pointe, and Modern

A BUN

Tap and Hip Hop:

A PONYTAIL

For ALL classes:

Use hairspray, bobby pins,

gel and ties to keep it off the neck

& out of the face!

We are very proud of the continued growth and success of the Des Plaines Performance

Dancers Making a Difference-Holiday Food Drive The Des Plaines School of Dance wants to encourage giving back to its community and helping those less

fortunate. This holiday season the School of Dance will be holding a friendly contest to see which class can

bring in the most non-perishable food items. Donations will go to the Des Plaines Self Help Closet and Food

Pantry. Bins will be located at each of the three dance studios (Room 101, 102 and 113). The contest will run

from Monday, November 6 - Monday, December 11. When making a donation, students/parents will be asked

to fill out a form, detailing their name, class, and the quantity of items donated. At the end of

the contest, the class with the highest average of donations will win a pizza party, to be held during their last

class before the holiday break. Each student in the class will also win one complimentary ticket to the

“Winter Spectacular 2017,” presented by Artistry in Motion Dance Companies!

Help us promote the holiday spirit and help assist those in need during these tough times!

Thank you for your donations!

Des Plaines School of Dance students are doing great

things with their dance training and we are incredibly

proud of all they are accomplishing!

Kaitlynn Ritti, earned a trip to New York

City through a scholarship she received at a

dance competition she competed at with her

teammates. Here are some of the exciting

things she was able to experience; a bus tour

of NYC, Musical Theater and Hip Hop

Intensive at Broadway Dance Center with

Broadway choreographers Karla Garcia and

Robert Taylor Jr., Tap Intensive with the Rockettes and

tour of Radio City Music Hall, Musical Theater Intensive at

Broadway Show Performers with some cast members of

Aladdin, saw the musicals Aladdin and Wicked and went on

a dinner cruise around NYC and Statue of Liberty.

Kim Fairhead, was one of 6

young dancers selected to take

part in Tomorrow’s

Choreographers, presented by

Dancers Awareness Project.

Choreographers ages 13-20 got

the amazing opportunity to

choreograph a piece on a

professional working adult

dancer. Kim was were given full

control over all logistics of the piece (music, number of

dancers, costume, length of piece, etc.). She worked with

Student Highlights dancer, Natalie, (pictured with Kim on the left) every

Sunday preparing for the showcase. All 6 young aspiring

choreographers showcased their work for family, friends

and professional dancers.

Guilia Demma, Bianca Noonan, Jordin Suwalski,

Ava Williams and Callie Weinert auditioned for

Inaside's "Youth Training Program" were picked from

dozens of dancers. These six dancers will perform with the

professional company at several events/performance. After

being selected, the Artistry dancers immediately began

regular training and rehearsals with Inaside company

member and choreographer, Sarah Ford, every Sunday

evening. This training is in addition to their already busy

schedule of classes with the Des Plaines School of Dance,

private lessons and of course their regular school work.
