CHIMES PRELUDE “Meditation on Thais” Massenet

BRINGING IN THE LIGHT (9:15)

WELCOME, REGISTRATION and ANNOUNCEMENTS PASTORAL PRAYER/LORD’S PRAYER (8:00) (Page 3)

CALL TO WORSHIP (9:15) L: Welcome, friends, in the love of God and in the grace of Jesus Christ to this gathering where we come to worship God. P: As we gather, we join our hearts together in our common trust in God and in our desire to find meaning in life through our faith. L: As we meet today, may we open our hearts to the challenge of letting go of all that has hindered us from a new way of thinking; may we be willing to embrace the truth that will help us to move forward in our faith. P: We open our hearts to seek God and follow the truth, wherever it may lead, that we may gain wisdom and understanding and live lives which please God.

HYMN “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” No. 139 (8:00 verse 1)

(9:15 verses 1 & 2)

CONFESSION OF THE CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY (9:15) Prayer of Confession: (In Unison)

Almighty God, we gather today seeking truth, but at the same time, we are somewhat apprehensive about what we might learn. We acknowledge that much of our understanding of you is what we have projected upon you, rather than who you really are. Help us to have the courage to let go of those projections and open our hearts to the reality of your immeasurable love.

3

L: Let us now pray together the prayer that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ taught us:

P: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

1 PETER 1:3-9 (NIV)

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.”

“PERFUMES A TUS PIES”

(LIKE SWEET PERFUME AT YOUR FEET)

(Translation of song performed by Alberto Hernandez) As I reflect on Your great love, and Your faithfulness to me All I want to do, is fall in worship on my knees And when I think about who I was, and how lost I was without You You're amazing to me Chorus: I don't want this to be it, not just a sample, I want more I want to fall in love with You my Lord, teach me how to love You and adore According to Your justice and Your Truth, with my life I want to honor You With everything I have and all I am, I offer You my dreams and all my plans May my life be pleasing before You, just like sweet perfume at Your feet. Verse:#2 When I think about Your Cross, and the sacrifice You made the blood You shed for me, It was there that You took my place And when I think about who I am, and how safe I feel in Your hands I want to know you more.
