818 IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON NUCLEAR SCIENCE, VOL. 51, NO. 3, JUNE 2004
A Report From the Editor for Nuclear ScienceSymposium, Workshop on Room-Temperature
Semiconductor Detectors, and Symposiumon Nuclear Power Systems Contributions toIEEE TRANSACTIONS ON NUCLEAR SCIENCE
THIS part of this issue of the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON
NUCLEAR SCIENCE (TNS) is devoted to contributionsfrom the 2003 Nuclear Science Symposium (NSS), Workshopon Room-Temperature Semiconductor Detectors (RTSD),and Symposium on Nuclear Power Systems (SNPS) held inconjunction in Portland, OR, USA from October 19–25, 2003.
A separate publication, the Conference Record, contains acomplete record of the 2003 NSS/RTSD/SNPS, as well as theMedical Imaging Conference (MIC). The Conference Recordis published on CD-ROM. Every paper presented is representedin the Conference Record by either a manuscript or an abstract. The 2003 Conference Record was edited by Dr. Scott Metzler.Copies may be obtained by contacting:

Of the approximately 700 papers presented at the 2003 NSS,RTSD, and SNPS, 333 were submitted for possible publica-tion in TNS. These manuscripts were subsequently scrutinizedby three reviewers to ensure that all manuscripts published inthe TNS were original and represented significant contributionsto the literature. Due to the large number of manuscripts this

year, we have decided to publish them in three TNS issues. In this issue, 75 of these manuscripts appear. The remainingNSS/RTSD/SNPS manuscripts that successfully complete thepeer review process will appear in the August and October 2004issue of TNS.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank both the re-viewers for their efforts to maintain the high quality of TNSpublications and the authors for their contributions. A list ofthe NSS/RTSD/SNPS reviewers will appear in the August 2004issue. It is my personal belief that one of the primary reasonsthat the NSS is consistently a preeminent conference for radia-tion detection and measurement is the timely publication of itscontributions in TNS. Furthermore, the efforts of the reviewersand the diligence of the authors in addressing the reviewers’concerns are absolutely critical to maintaining this process. Inaddition, I would like to offer special thanks to Chuck Brittonfor serving as Associate Editor for 25 of manuscripts in the gen-eral area of electronics, Bruce Brown for identifying a numberof new reviewers in the high-energy physics area, Gary Johnsonfor identifying reviewers for the SNPS manuscripts, and NolanHertel for identifying reviewers for a range of manuscripts.
