Your church, organization, or small group can make a big difference in the lives of hurting children across Kentucky by simply collecting pocket change through Sunrise’s Miles of Pennies fundraising program. Your support is life changing and helps provide them with a safe, loving environment through Sunrise where they can receive therapy and begin the healing process.

The Penny Miles character, who is featured throughout this program, is the mascot for Miles of Pennies and an iconic symbol of help and support for children and youth who are broken. She was designed to engage kids of all ages in this creative fundraiser and teach them about the importance of giving back.

In supporting materials that accompany this program, you’ll see that Penny shares the story of her friend’s journey through foster care, the new pup Sunny she is fostering, and how she learned to help others who are less fortunate. Sunrise will provide the supporting materials you’ll need to administer this fundraising program within your church or small group. The lesson plans we’ve designed will help children and youth learn about compassion and can be used in a way that best suits your needs – whether it’s for Vacation Bible School, Sunday School, or another event.

SUNNY

“The children at Muldraugh Hill Baptist Church in Lebanon, Ky. have grown up in homes where they are loved and their basic needs are

met. They realize all children are not as fortunate, though. The MHBC kids have an overwhelming desire to help others and really shine when they are given an opportunity to do so. One Wednesday evening, our kids learned about Penny Miles, discussed ways we could help, and

then decorated coffee cans for collecting pennies. The pennies started pouring in the very next week! Everyone in our church has enjoyed

taking part in the program. Little is much when God is in it.” - Kim Benningfield Skaggs
