ABOUT THE ARTIST - BIOGRAPHY

Jan Sitts is an internationally known painter and painting instructor, whose unique work has embraced art lovers for the last thirty years. She was formally trained at the Kansas City Art Institute and received a B. A. in art from Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado. After graduating Jan worked in the commercial arts, movie animation, gallery director, art teacher and various other positions in the field of arts.

Moving to Sedona, Arizona over twenty years ago, she found the Southwest a powerful magnet for her artistic career. Her greatest discovery was, not only Sedona, Arizona, but the explosion and impact it had on her art work. Her creativity continues to flourish, along with accomplished memberships in the Arizona Watercolor Association, International Acrylic Painters Society, The Society of Experimental Artists and The Society of Layerists in Multimedia. She coordinated the National Layerist Convention and became the Arizona state Coordinator in the year 2000. She also served on the board of directors for the Sedona Art Center for 6 years.

She receives many awards, exhibition honors, and art jury assignments for shows. Her work is featured in public, private and corporate collections. Currently, her paintings are featured in the Sedona Art Center Gallery and VUE Gallery in Sedona, Arizona.
