Mr. Kumar Mangalam BirlaChairman, The Aditya Birla Group
Mr. Kumar Mangalam Birla is Chairman of the US$
29.2 billion Aditya Birla Group and Indias first
trulymultinational corporation. An iconic figure, Mr. Birlaholds
several key positions on various regulatoryand professional boards.
He is a director of theCentral Board of Directors of the Reserve
Bank ofIndia and chairman of the Staff Sub-Committee ofthe Central
Board of the Reserve Bank of India. Heserves on the Prime Minister
of Indias AdvisoryCouncil on Trade and Industry. He is the
chairmanof the Board of Trade constituted by the Union Minister of
Commerce &Industry, also chairman of the Ministry of Company
Affairs AdvisoryCommittee.
Additionally, he is on the National Council of the Confederation
of IndianIndustry (CII); the Apex Advisory Council of the
Associated Chambers ofCommerce and Industry of India, New Delhi and
the Advisory Council for theCentre for Corporate Governance.
He served as the chairman of Securities and Exchange Board of
IndiasCommittee on Corporate Governance, and as chairman of SEBIs
committeeon insider trading. He authored the nations first report
on corporategovernance.
On the academic front, Mr. Birla is the Chancellor of the Birla
Institute ofTechnology & Science (BITS), Pilani. He is also a
director on the G.D. BirlaMedical Research & Education
Foundation. Additionally, he is on the Asian
Regional Advisory Board of the London Business School which
providescounsel on the schools strategy and curriculum. He is also
Honorary Fellowof the London Business School (LBS), a title
conferred upon him by thegoverning board of the LBS.
Several accolades have been showered on Mr. Birla such as the
Asia PacificGlobal HR Excellence Exemplary Leader Award and NDTVs
GlobalIndian Leader of the year, and Most Socially Responsible
