IntroductionWelcome to Library+, your student centred learning zone.

Whilst you are at college, Library+ will provide you with a wide range of facilities, services and resources to help support you in your studies and ultimately achieve your goals.

The Virtual Library is where you can find all our electronic resources, such as e-books and e-journals. There are many more resources available which can be accessed both in college and at home, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

To access the Virtual Library, log into itslearning and select Virtual Library from the courses tab. You will find the links to a variety of resources down the left hand side of the page. To access our e-books or e-journals, you will need your college network log in details.

More information about usernames and passwords can be found in the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section of this guide.

If you need any help using the resources please speak to the library staff. You can find contact details in the Extra Help section of this guide.

Finding booksYou can find what books and other resources we have in the library and reserve them using the Library+ Catalogue on the Virtual Library in itslearning. This service is available both in college and at home.

If a book you want is “on loan” you can place a reservation by entering your Reader Code, which is your student ID number. If you are only in once a week you can request items that are in stock, by using the Library Helpdesk email link situated on the Virtual Library.

Further Education Students - 8 items | Higher Education Students - 12 items

Most books can be borrowed for 4 weeks. CD’s and DVD’s (maximum 2 multimedia items at any one time) can be borrowed for 1 week. Items may also be renewed twice so long as they are not required by another borrower.

We do charge fines on all overdue items.General stock - 8p per day / Weekly loan stock - 20p per day

Desktop ShopWe offer a range of Stationery and Greetings cards, at very low prices. We also provide a book ordering service and offer 10% off the RRP on all books ordered from us.

What is my itslearning username and password?

Your username is always your student number. This can be found on the front of your student ID card. Your password is your 6 digit date of birth, e.g. for 21st March 1995 it will be 210395

What is the username and password for e-books and journals?

Your username is your student number and your password your network password, which you use to log onto college computers.

How can I renew my books?

You can renew your books by coming into the library or contacting us via the telephone or email, please find details listed below.

I want a book/article that isn’t in the library stock, how can I get it?

You can fill in an Inter Library Loan Request form at the library counter and for £1 we can borrow a book or obtain a photocopy of an article for you.

Do you offer any training on how to use the resources?

We offer group Information Skills workshops and these are booked by your tutor.

What if I need extra help?

You can book a one-to-one tuition session with a librarian who will help you use the resources and find the information you need.

Do I have to pay for printing?

Yes. The cost is 5p per sheet for Black and White and 18p per sheet for Colour printing. You need to load your student card with credit to do this.

How do I put credit on my student card?

The machine to load your card with credit is located between Reception and Information+, above the water machine. There are instructions on the machine to help guide you through the process but if you experience difficulties see a member of the library staff.

Can I use my phone in Library+?

We ask that you keep your phone on silent whilst using Library+ and take your calls outside the centre.

Can I eat or drink in Library+?

You can drink bottled water but we ask that you don’t eat in Library+.
