Manonmaniam Sundaranar University was established in 1990, asper Act 31, 1990 by the Government of Tamil Nadu, as a Teaching-

cum-Affiliated university. The University has b een named after Prof. P.

Sundaram Pillai (1855-1897), the Tamil poet literate and renowned

late 19th century writer who authored the famous verses of

the drama ‘MANONMANIAM’. The University caters to the needs of

three southern districts in Tamil Nadu viz. Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi and

Kanyakumari. Dr. M. Karunanidhi, former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu,

formally inaugurated the University on7th September, 1990. It is

recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

For the Diploma programs, candidates who have passed the 10+2 exam in any stream, 10+3 passed, or

undergraduates from any degree are eligible for enrollment.

On submission of their application forms, they will obtain provisional admission. For their admission to be regulariz
