Students created visual images using the site http://www.nga.gov/kids/zone/zone.htm

Students created images using Photo Op interactive and the Jungle interactive.

These images were used for writing activities by the students.

If Happiness was a color,It would be orangeAs warm as a summer day.If Happiness was a tasteIt would be just like a caramel sundae. If Happiness was a feelingIt would be as wet as a puppy's kiss.If Happiness was a smellIt would be sweet as a baking cookie. If Happiness was a sound,It would be light as a child's laugh.

• Photo Op is an interactive activity that introduces you to digital photography and digital photo editing.

• You will use the virtual camera to take snapshots. This interactive allows you to explore lighting, focus, shutter speed, and compositional effects.

• After you've taken some photos, switch to the Photo Op editor and transform your pictures into something completely different.

• Using the jungle interactive allows students to create a scene using vivid colors, plants, and animals.

• These scenes could be used for writing assignments.

Illustrating a Story

To illustrate a story they had written, these students posed for and took photographs to go along with the story.

They changed their photos into comic-like illustrations using the BeFunky website, then created the story using the Book fold layout in Microsoft Word.

Technology Can Transform ArtTechnology can impact just about every facet of making and understanding art. It can provide artists with a rich source of reference material. It allows them access to a virtual canvas where they can both recreate old techniques and discover new artistic possibilities. Once the art is created, technology makes it much easier to use, share, and store the artwork and its related materials.
