Adobe Premiere Pro CS6Compilation: Varun VerlekarHistoryPremiere Pro is the redesigned successor to Adobe Premiere, and was launched in 2003. Premiere Pro refers to versions released in 2003 and later, whereas Premiere refers to the earlier releases. Premiere was one of the first computer-based NLEs (non-linear editing system), with its first release on Mac in 1991. Up until version Premiere Pro 2.0 (CS2), the software packaging featured a galloping horse, in a nod toEadweard Muybridge's work, "Sallie Gardner at a Gallop".FeaturesPremiere Pro supports high resolution video editing at up to 10,240 8,192resolution, at up to 32-bits per channel color, in bothRGBandYUV. Audio sample-level editing,VST audio plug-insupport, and 5.1 surround sound mixing are available. Premiere Pro's plug-in architecture enables it to import and export formats beyond those supported by QuickTime or DirectShow, supporting a wide variety of video and audio file formats and codecs on both MacOS and Windows. When used withCineform'sNeo line of plug-ins, it supports 3D editing with the ability to view 3D material using 2D monitors, while making individual left and right eye adjustments. Workflow integrationAfter EffectsThroughAdobe Dynamic Link, compositions fromAdobe After Effectsmay be imported and played back directly on the Premiere Pro timeline. The After Effects composition can be modified, and after switching back to Premiere Pro, the clip will update with the changes. Likewise, Premiere Pro projects can be imported into After Effects. Clips can be copied between the two applications while preserving clip attributes. Premiere Pro also supports many After Effects plug-ins.

PhotoshopAdobe Photoshopfiles can be opened directly from Premiere Pro to be edited in Photoshop. Any changes will immediately be updated when the Photoshop file is saved and focus returns to Premiere Pro.

Adobe Story, OnLocation and PreludeThe Premiere Pro workflow takes advantage ofmetadatain the script of a video production. The script is created in or brought intoAdobe Story, then passed toAdobe OnLocationto capture footage and attach any relevant metadata from the script to that footage. Finally, in Premiere Pro,speech recognitioncan match the audio to the dialogue from the script in the metadata. Clips can be searched based on their dialogue in Premiere Pro, and can be sent toAdobe Encoreto make searchable web DVDs.Adobe Preludereplaces OnLocation in CS6 and above. OthersThere are other integration functions, such as Edit inAdobe Audition, Dynamic Link to Encore, and Reveal in Adobe Bridge.

Who uses Adobe Premiere Pro?

Video and film editors and other post-production professionals use Adobe Premiere Pro toassemble compelling stories and other types of video content from live-action video footage, stilland animated images, sound, and music. The types of projects they create range from short-formcommercials and videos to long-form broadcast programming, sporting and event coverage, andcorporate and feature films. Adobe Premiere Pro offers a powerful, comprehensive postproductiontoolset and industry-leading file-based workflows that speed every stage ofproduction. Timesaving integration capabilities with other essential Adobe software, includingProduction Premium components, as well as with other NLEs (Final Cut Pro 7 and Avid editingsoftware), allows you to bring the creative benefits of Adobe tools to every video project.

Motion graphics designers and visual effects artists turn to Adobe Premiere Pro for a tightlyintegrated, timesaving workflow for video ingest and editing. These creative professionalsespecially appreciate being able to work in real time on footage at HD and film resolutions, thanks to the Mercury Playback Engine and broad format support including high-quality 10-bit masteringand archiving codecs. In addition to being able to open each others project files and easily pasteelements between After Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects users can easily use theeven faster Dynamic Link to send compositions to Adobe Premiere Pro sequences, where changesmade in After Effects show up immediately in the Adobe Premiere Pro timeline and vice versa.

Photographers shooting video look to Adobe Premiere Pro because it offers a highly intuitive, comprehensive editing toolset with features designed specifically for DSLR video workflows.Native support for DSLR video formats lets photographers drag clips from their cameras memorycard directly to the timeline and start editing immediately, with no long render times or need toconvert files. In addition, Adobe Premiere Pro includes Merged Clips for matching sound and videorecorded on separate devices, the powerful Warp Stabilizer effect for stabilizing shaky footage, theRolling Shutter Repair effect for fixing clips with rolling shutter artifacts, tight Photoshopintegration, and the ability to adjust effects and color in real time during playback. The includedAdobe Media Encoder lets photographers quickly output finished work to virtually any video ordevice format.Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 builds upon the significant performance improvements that the company made in previous iterations of its flagship video editing application. In CS6, Adobe has found several ways to take better advantage of those past astounding leaps in performance.
