The View Menu

• Select the view menu to display various tools available within Adobe.

Tools Menu

• The Tools menu allows access to many helpful functions in Adobe including;– Editing pages– Adding Bookmarks– Recognizing text– Etc.

Tools Menu - Pages

• Using the pages menu, you can perform the following functions;– Insert Pages– Extract Pages– Rotate Pages– Crop Pages– Delete Pages

Tools Menu – Recognize Text

• The recognize text feature allows a previously scanned documents to become searchable.

• After a document is searchable, the content can be highlighted (See Comment Annotations section)

• The add bookmark feature is useful in large documents (i.e. bond agreements, leases, etc.) so you can quickly locate items you need in item without flipping through all of the pages

• Select “ Add Bookmark”• Double click on the new “Untitled” bookmark and type in the desired

name. • Book marks can be deleted by clicking the trash can icon• Access bookmarks in the document on the “Bookmark” tab on the

right hand of the screen

Comment Menu

• Under the “Comment” menu hides many of the common document mark up tools;– Text box – Call out– Highlight– Arrow– Line– Square– And so on…

Comment Menu – Drawing Markups

• To create a text box select the textbox tool

• Formatting Text boxes– Right Click and selecting properties OR pressing Control E will bring

up the Text Box Properties menu. – To change the text box properties (outline or fill color of a text box),

highlight the text box and the text box properties menu will display the options. Click the drop down box on the right and select the desired option

– To change the text properties, highlight the selected text and the text box text properties menu will display the options. Select the desired formats (bold, italics, underline, color of text, etc.)

Comment Menu – Drawing Markups (cont’d)

• Arrows Lines and other objects– Similar to a text box, you can

right click on the them can change properties (or Control E)

– For squares and other shapes, can make the center transparent to put lines around certain areas of text, etc.

• Quick tip: If you find a set of properties you like for these items you can select “Make Current Properties Default” and all new items created will be in the same manner.

Comment Menu – Annotations

• The Note Tool is useful for large explanations where you don’t have the space for a text box

• Once you click it, click on the document to place the note

• Once you are finished with the note hit the small X in the upper right hand corner to minimize it.

• By double clicking on a line, box, circle, or highlight, you can also add a note to that object.

• The text in a document must be recognized before you can highlight.

• To highlight an item select the highlight tool and select the text to be highlighted.
