    History of Adult Literacy Providers

    Meetings

A conversation was started by Old Stone Foundation in Spring

2010 when Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD)

announced it would no provide Adult Education. Old Stonewanted to find a partner to make sure ABLE services could

    continue at their site.

The state of Ohio commissioned ABLE providers in Cuyahoga

County to provide services previously through CMSD. The Old

Stone meetings developed into a brainstorm session of whatadult literacy providers could do together through collaboration.

The group decided to continue to meet under the coordination

of The Literacy Cooperative. They decided their first priority

would be to find a common portal for referrals of end users &

    volunteers, and centralized tutor training/certification.
