ABOUT APPLYING COLOR TO ADVERTISING ELEMENTS:When applying color to Advertising layouts begin by selecting photography, then choose a color that contrasts the photograph's background. Use this color for the headline bar, subheadlines and URLs. Use this color for the Q shape that overlaps the headline bar. Select a light or dark variation of this color, and a third complementary color for the remaining Q shapes.

ART DIRECTION GUIDELINES FOR NEW AND STOCK PHOTOGRAPHY:Scenes in color photographs should be abstract representations of the workplace that highlight people accessing and managing data. Instead of showing workers in an actual office, use spare sets and minimal props to represent an active work setting. Create scenes where access to data and information is integral to the work activities depicted. Use products and equipment as secondary props to set the scene. The idea is to focus on the benefits of technology, rather than the technology itself. Photos should always show a person accessing data. Styling should be contemporary but conservative. Avoid shots that closely resemble fashion or lifestyle photography. Make sure that each shot includes ample background area in a single color.
