Program Closings
The ASK Program is not in session when school is closed. ASK may also be closed due to weather conditions. For this reason, please make sure that all emergency numbers in RenWeb are kept up to date.

Additional Enrichment Programs
ASK is only one of a variety of enrichment programs available to SSLI elementary students. A separate registration is required for each program, online on our website. (Band registration forms will be brought home by interested students in grades 1-5 during the second week of school.)
After School Band - Run by Paul Effman Music on Monday afternoons and open to students in grades 1-5.
Interscholastic Sports - Run by the SSLI Athletic Department on Mondays and Wednesdays for girls in grades 4 and 5, and Tues-days and Thursdays for boys in grades 4 and 5.
Sunday Morning Sports League - Run by the SSLI Parent Association from 9:30 -11:30 for students in grades K– 5. There are three leagues: Fall Soccer, Winter Basketball and Spring Baseball.

ABOUT THE ASK PROGRAM
Fees and Payment Policy
The fee for all electives is $350 per child, per semester.
Payment can be made by clicking on the following link:

The program runs in 2 semesters and follows the school calendar.
Registration for ASK will occur two times per year. Payment is due at the time of registration and there will be no refunds or make-ups for absences or missed classes.
Semester 2: February 1 - June 13.
ALL OF THE ASK PROGRAM ELECTIVES END AT 4:30.
Program Goals
Our After School Kids (“ASK”) Program provides targeted enrichment on Mondays through Fridays.
• ASK is open to Schechter LI students in grades K-5 only
• Class sizes are limited
Additional Information
After a supervised break for juice and snack in a centralized location (from 3:15-3:30) students will go to their electives from 3:30-4:30 pm.
On Monday through Thursday programs will end at 4:30 pm.
On Fridays programs will end at 2:45 pm.
No transportation is provided. Some school districts offer a late bus. Check with your home district. If your child will be taking a late bus, please let us know, otherwise we will assume all students will be picked-up. Students taking a late bus will be supervised until the late bus arrives.
MONDAY
* PIANO CLUB - Grades K-2 Under the expert direction of our esteemed music teacher, Ms. Elana Stern, children will have the opportunity to learn the basic rudiments of the piano while playing on an individual electronic keyboard.
* BRICKS 4 KIDZ - Grade K-2 This is a hands-on class where students build machines, buildings, vehicles and other structures out of LEGO® Bricks, using one-of-a-kind model plans designed by Bricks 4 Kidz®. Students build a new project each week. While exploring principles of engineering, architecture, physics and more, students will develop problem solving and critical thinking skills.
TUESDAY
* KERBOOMKIDZ - Grades K-5 KerboomKIDZ is an energetic and challenging group exercise program especially designed for kids. Students will improve physical fitness coordination, develop motor skills and gain rhythm and confidence.
* MAD SCIENCE - Grades K-2 Each week students will learn about a different phase of science including Magnetic Magic, Lights, Color Action, Mission: Nutrition, Optical Illusions, Sonic Sounds, Tantalizing Taste, Watts-Up and Harnessing Heat. These weekly workshops are fast paced, high energy, exciting courses that combine a little bit of magic with a lot of science to generate a whole bunch of fun.
WEDNESDAY
* SSLI BROADWAY THEATER CLUB - Grades 2-5 Presents: ALADDIN In our Musical Theater Program under the direction of our outstanding music teacher, Ms. Elana Stern, our children will have fun developing performance techniques in an environment of trust, while gaining confidence and building self-esteem. A special production of ALADDIN will be performed Thursday evening, May 18th and Sunday afternoon May 21, 2017. Students must enroll in both the fall and spring semesters.

* KICKS FOR KIDS - Grades K-5 With Coach Robbie Kicks For Kids is the ultimate fitness program. It is a combination of martial arts and aerobics to provide fun in a NON-COMPETETIVE atmosphere. This class is designed to build strength and confidence. Register now for a great activity with Coach Robbie.

* FRIDAY FITNESS CLUB - Grades K-5 With Mr. Meyer
The Friday Fitness Club will have students work on developing cardiovascular and muscle endurance, proper warm-up techniques, stretching, aerobic fitness, and goal setting for students to achieve their own personal level of fitness and performance. The atmosphere created by Mr. Meyer is motivational and fosters a “can-do” attitude.
* BRIXOLOGY- Grades 3-5 Using LEGO® bricks, students will build different engineering-themed projects in each class; explore engineering fields such as mechanical, structural, aerospace, nautical and bioengineering; use critical thinking, cooperation, and creative problem-solving to test and improve creations and experience extended learning with a take home creation to reinforce each concept.
